Happy about this. I believe he will start with the San Diego Gulls next year, then maybe make his NHL late next season. Ducks have a legit chance at a Top 3 pick this draft, and not too upset their season ended early which was filled with injury and inconsistency.

More upset with the Rangers season ending early who had a good chance for a playoff spot. Oh well.

Thought it was more a commentary on their pathetic attempts at drafting outside the top 5 in the last decade (in addition to mishandling their prospects). I totally forgot that the Rangers almost landed that pick.. now i'm depressed.

I only know Josh Hennessy's name cause in the 2003 draft, he was taken with our 2nd round pick that we traded to SJ to move down and get an extra pick and take ivan baranka and kenny roche...then between that pick and when we took baranka, patrice bergeron and shea weber got picked lol

It's a shame what a bust he was. Funny story though.

Awesome so we will be climbing those tankathon standings then. Win that lottery baby!!!
 
Any idea how the draft lottery will work?

Based on current standings the Rangers are in the lottery yet two teams, Vancouver and Nashville have fewer points yet were in the playoffs and therefore out of the lottery. Calgary had 79 points too as did the Rangers.

any ideas?
 
The draft lottery shouldn't be too troublesome to figure out, I think. The only big obstacle would be teams complaining about the lack of even GP among all teams. Right now it's 68 to 71GP range.

BUT

If the NHL is more than happy with just going into the playoffs out of the suspension, and doing seeding with the uneven GP, then there is no reason to assume you determine lottery odds and whatnot based on the remaining non-playoff teams despite the uneven GP.

And if they want to do a brief regular season wrap-up before doing playoffs, then the lotto odds/playoff picture just becomes more clear.
 
The NHL is not going to the playoffs this year and then turn around and have another regular season followed by another playoff.

Devils with two top ten picks is gonna suck.
 


Vlads little brother going Top 3 in the OHL draft. Looks like he has a commitment to Michigan State as well to choose from according to Elite Prospects page.
