That what panic and hysteria creates. It's there already. The eldery are still the most at risk and it's easily transmitted because there's no symptoms for many.

Anecdotally, a majority of people who've had it, deal with a fever for 8-12 hours and then a cough. It's definitely dangerous for people with impaired immune/respiratory systems.

This is not Ebola. People fear what they dont understand. The number infected is probably astronomically higher. There's limited testing and since the symptoms vary greatly, a person could just consider it a 'cold'. That 'cold' could then turn deadly for the aforementioned elderly/immune impaired.

15 of the 21 dead in Washington all come from the same Nursing home.

edit- the bolded is misleading. We do not know how many are infected. We know the severe cases. There's limited testing. There's no 'accurate' mortality rate.

Unless its changed.... weird thing to add, no children, under 9, have been 'affected/infected'

The crazy thing is swine flu infected 61million and killed .5 million. People don’t seem to remember.
it’s also flu season and a number of people came down with bronchitis. My 102 had a really bad pneumonia in October she even had to be intubated but she somehow pulled through, thank god and is doing awesome even though the doctors were harping on ( rightfully so) hospice and signing the DNR. A nurse i spoke to today said hysteria isn’t helping. My point is anxiety isn’t healthy and can lead to sickness. It’s scary I get it but being logical can also save your life. Reading doom and gloom articles are just going to make you sick with fear.

Watched the extended highlights. Wow. You can see Tampa is trying to definitely be a team that doesn’t wanna back down to the likes of Boston. Had to be 4-5 brawls during the game
The best way to loose to the Bs is to back down to them. Tampa made some smart trades. And the signing of Maroon was at the right time.

There was one sequence where Marchand came close to the goalie and went into the near corner and was hit by three different players. It was literally like watching all three Hanson brothers in one of the Slapshot scenes.

I'd think that's what Boston would want but I love this type of Hockey.

The Bs seem to be very vulnerable to head games.

Their weakness is they believe they need to appear to be a reincarnation of the Big Bad Bruins at all times. So yeah, one can get into their heads. I mean look for how long they chased Andersson around for last year.

Let's look at the numbers.

Assuming no one has any sort of immunity to this new COVID 19 which is what is pretty commonly assumed by most if not all of the medical community.
Let's assume 70% of the world's population gets the virus at some point in the next year. That's 7.8 billion people * .70 = 5.46b people
Let's assume a 2% mortality rate (I've seen fluctuations between 1%-3% so I'll split the difference) = 5.46b people * .02 = 109,200,000 people dead

That's just crunching numbers. Sure, we could argue that maybe only half the world contracts this (which I think is probably too conservative) but that is still 78,000,000 people dead worldwide.

And here's the even worse part about it. This is a virus so it is constantly changing. I was speaking with a family member who is currently completing his PHD in Chemical Engineering for research on viruses/cancer causing agents/bacterias/etc and many within the medical community he works with believe that what was originally in China actually changed to become LESS DEADLY currently. So that means this could have actually been closer to that 15-20-25% mortality range originally. Nothing says that this will either:
a) Not revert back
b) Not just constantly change every year and become the new norm like the flu on an annual basis where we can't project a cure. Imagine that many people dying annually from a new COVID 20, then COVID 21, etc.

Also the numbers that have come out of China are pretty much unanimously known within the medical community as totally underestimated. And honestly, so are the numbers within the US more than likely based on the number of tests administered.

I know people want to cease the hysteria and I agree with that. But the idea that this isn't at least somewhat troubling and really something that should have probably been more closely monitored for a while is a little too far in the other direction.

People have been saying since the end of January that this thing was over hyped.

The Italian PM quarantined the entire country. You have professional teams all over the world cancelling events or playing in front of empty stadiums and the same is now beginning to happen in the US. Why? The infection rate of COVID-19 is significantly higher than that of H1N1 or even the normal flu.

The "flu" statistic is horribly misleading. If the same number of people who have the flu were to contract COVID-19, the death rates would be 5-10x higher - some scientists said the mortality rate of COVID-19 is up to 1900% greater than the flu.

I wouldn't be shocked if this soon impacted all NY sports teams.
Of course it’s going to impact everything! That’s the point!!!
