MacKinnon is insanely good as he just skates thru the Canucks for the GW in OT. I'm sorry and I know I've had a few debates with a few in here about this but IMO...yes my opinion, he's the best player in the NHL and is the MVP of the league.

You can have McDavid, Kucherov, Ovie and Draisetle...I'll take MacKinnon and take my chances I have the best player in the leauge. Besides being he fastest player in the league with the best dekes in the game with the puck, he's also the most exciting. Yes I put McDavid right there with him as far as that but I'll take MacKinnon anyways.

The Avalanche are a .500 team maybe withought him and likely worse. Proof in the pudding is that with no Rantanan and Landeskog he is carrying the team on his back and not only keeping the 'Lanche relevant but one of the best teams in the league.

Just love watching him play. Crazy thing is, he just turned 24 and it seems like he's been in the league 10 years...lol

It's really really close but the more I see MacK simply taking over games and carrying that Avalanche team on his back withought both Rantanen and Landeskog and making formerly journeymen type players like Donskoi and Burakovsky all of a sudden lethal scoring threats, yeah I'm serious in that I'd take MacK over McDavid and don't think I'd regret it.

Why do you think it really isn't close between the two as far a talent is concerned and being so valuable to their teams?

As I said previously, I'd say at this point of the season, MacK is likely the front runner for the Hart considering that MacK has not only kept the 'Lanche relevant but in fact one of the best teams in the league withought Rantanen and Landeskog while McDavid who is having a great season himself has Draisetle by his side.

As I said as well, it's really really close but what MacK is doing thus far this season has been nothing short of sensational

McDavid is almost at 2 PPG so not close.

Cale Makar has 5 goals and 22 points in 19 games. That’s absurd.
 
remember when people were so impatient that they thought mackinnon was a bust cause he wasn't a superstar after 4 seasons and thought the avs would trade him. good times

not really comparable though...we almost got extremely lucky but didn't. they were just flat out morons

I mean they both took players where they were ranked. The Flyers also has a plethora of D prospects at the time so going off the board to take Makar or Heiskanen would have been odd.

I think you go with mindset of BPA when picking that high up in the draft.

But you're right, it was between Hischier and Patrick all season for #1.

its not close. He's an elite player but no hes not close to McDavid and he's nowhere near best player in the league.

Well my friend, we'll need to agree to disagree on this one as I think it's ALOT closer between MacK and McDavid than apparently you do and it is not just points wise but all around wise as well.

I know I'm probably on an island with this thought process of mine but that's OK and admittedly I'm a bit biased towards MacK seeing I've owned him the last 3 years in my longtime $$ keeper league and I watch him a ton and probably more than McDavid.

He's made journeymen type players like Donskoi, Burakovsky and Compher looks like bonafide scoring threats. He's made Cale Makar look like the 2nd coming of Bobby Orr.

Nothing against McDavid...he's awesome. I just see MacK getting better and better each year and what's he's doing now with no Rantanen and Landeskog has been other wordly.

He's simply the most dominating player on the ice each and everytime he's out there. He's just a joy to watch.

He has a stupid name so I didn't want him. Anyway now that he had 2 goals last night the HFboard consensus is that he's going to be better than Hughes and Kakko.

In other news, poor Cam Talbot. Looks like his NHL days are numbered.
