This might be the most bananas thing I’ve heard a GM say

The team that has two 1st overall picks in the last 3 years, and going for their third, isn’t rebuilding?

What a clown Shero is

His approach to building a team lately seems to be ‘low percentage.’ Like, for that team to be successful this year, every move they made (and didn’t make; goaltending) had to end up being the absolute best outcome

To me, that sounds more like he's saying that they hadn't stopped rebuilding when they made the playoffs. Still... if that were true, there'd be no Subban trade.

I’m reading some of the other tweets from the press conference

Shero is telling me that Hall gave them no indication that he wasn’t open to sign there. So based on this statement, that means the Devils potentially weren’t interested in signing him.

The team that is not rebuilding in Shero’s own words, doesn’t want to sign Taylor Hall for his team?

I’m not sure how any Devils fan walks away from this presser and thinks “yeah this is the guy who has it all together”

Noah Dobson only played 10 games. I love how the Islanders kept him up for being a regular as a healthy scratch. Great way to ruin his rookie season. Imagine if the Rangers did this with Kakko, Fox etc. Dobson should have went back to juniors. What a shitty run organization

Will put this here as well as PGT, as I think no one will read it and I am DYING for responses.

Dont know if this was said already (didnt read everything) but, does anyone agree with me in that it shouldnt have been taken for granted that Panarin's "apparent" goal wasn't?

Mika is my fave......but he skated right past that puck on the goal line. True he was roughed up in the interim. He thought it was in (like everyone did) did the light go on? Premature celebrating.....made him think that? Kreider also bypassed the lonely puck just lying there, spinning.

Many times I have seen players put the puck in a "2nd time" just in case.......haven't you? Maybe a case where Nashville would have been pissed and thought we were rubbing it in?

Fox was the only one that went after it when he realized it "might not have been in", as there was no indication from refs and no whistle blown. It was a blown opp. and a really screwed up scenario, on a night where we were robbed of 2 pts. IMO.

We went OUT and grabbed Panarin (or, he grabbed us) and Trouba. Hoe could the Devil's......NOT attempt to keep Hall, UNLESS he made it very clear he didnt want any part of the Devils but wanted to be low key about it.
I could see how Shero would "prefer" the low key approach, but jeez.......why NOT tell the truth (if that is what it is) and put the onus on Hall?

This way.......Shero looks like a clown, with a bigger red nose that Rudolph. Or is it Santa? Whatever.
Am I wrong about this take?

Gonna call my cousin......maybe she knows something. (Works for the Devils)

Yeah ideally someone would have jammed it in regardless. I think what happened is the puck hit the far post and then the back of the keeper and rolled around, which is where Panarin started to celebrate. I don't think anyone else actually saw it and just saw a puck laying in the crease and Bread celebrating and assumed it was in. But yeah, some situational awareness (the referee was standing right over the puck, not signalling for a goal) would have been great.

At least the Rangers didn't give up 8 goals. 8-3 Predators vs the Islanders with 5 mins left

Sharks are straight trash. a 6-on-3 to try and tie it up late (aided by the refs, naturally) and they put together one of the worst PP efforts i've ever seen. If the Rangers ever did something like that this board would need to be quarantined.

The house lights went on. Unless you're standing right over the goal line you have to assume it's a goal. The official pretty much gave it away to the goaltender when he saw it on the line.

I love it...Hall with the primary assist to give the Coyotes the W vs the Sharks who are a tire fire this year.

Looks like the hockey gods who have a way of doing these things are evening things out for the Sharks this year after that atrocious call by the refs in that playoff game vs Vegas last year where they gave Vegas that bull shit 5 minute major penalty in which the f'n Sharks scored 4 bullshit PP goals goals which helped them overcome a 3-0 deficit where they ended up winning that game in OT and the series.

I dunno what it is about San Jose but they always rub me the wrong way. We all have players we detest or can't stand...well Evander Kane for me is one of those guys and so maybe it's because of Evander Kane is the reason the Sharks losing always puts a smile on my face. Tonight was no exception.

Don't sleep on that Arizona team btw. I've watched them alot due to my ownership of Darcy Kuemper on my $$ team and they play great defensive hockey, they have a great goalie in Keumper who like Tim Thomas did 7-8 years ago for the Bruins is having this renaissance in his career and is incredibly one of the best goalies in the league that no one knows about it.

And so now with the addition of Hall, they just might score enough goals going forward and have enough offense now to where its really wouldn't shock me in the least if they made a very long playoff run and give teams like Colorado and St.Louis who are the favorites out West to make it to the Cup finals fits.

I understand why the Devils didn't want to extend Hall. Durability. He's been better the last 3-4 years but throughout his career he's had injury issues. Very good player with two elite seasons and two nearly elite seasons that were cut short due to lockout and injury (PPG wise). They made a choice and will live with it.

Loved Kuemper I was all about him after Raanta was traded instead of Pavelec, but things have worked out well with Georgiev.

Thanks for the lights answer. But that is what i mean, the ref will point repeatedly at the puck, goal line, etc. He DID NOT, no definitive indication, we should have recognized that. Yes, the ref "hinted very strongly" to the goaltender that the puck was alive, and literally right at his feet. Ugggh.

Saw that game as well. Steps with a VERY nice goal. What about that call on Yotes Lyobushkin for not retrieving helmet or getting off.

I then ask......how long before teams specifically attempt to rip off a players helmet, forcing him off......which effectively gives them a temporary man advantage?
Would be dirty and some may say "competitors edge".

Watch Boston and Philly perfect it.
Will there then be a counter penalty if deemed "on purpose"?
Maybe some day.

Dislike Kane as well. Think I remember him being dirty against our Rangers way back when......

Agree on Arizona. They are doing what the Devils "claimed they are not, or are. They have a specific direction in their organization now. Getting Hall was a piece they desparately needed.
Wouldn't be surprised if they do more damage at tdl. They have the talented farm to make one more HUGE acqusition that would be the icing. Can anyone spell Chris KREIDER?

How about the pun of "Hall and Yotes"? Haha.

What gets me is that they say it has to be right over the line...but that the off side rule is different . If a player has his skate over the line but not on the ice...he is considered in the zone a head of the puck . By that logic...if the puck is touching the back of the ice behind the goal line while no part of the puck is touching the line...[.pucks bounces /twirls around but has not touched the line] and then it drops down to rest on the line.....shouldn't it be considered as being in the net ? I think it should have been considered as being in . That make any sense ?

Surprised that type of goal isn't more prevalent in the league now after Svech set the precedent for it months ago
Would be nice for goalies to be forced to stand up and hug the post with players behind the net instead of half butterfly or whatever. Goalies will need to have quicker and better reads to get into position for centering passes. As it is now, the goalie is still looking behind the net half the time after a quick centering feed, but due to the half butterfly more times than not the pucks hits their pads along the ice.
