Langkow and Zamuner always seemed to score against the Rangers.

I liked both players, outside of their performances against us.

Injuries accelerated the end of Langkow's career a bit, but I thought he was a solid 1A/B type center at his peak.

Zamuner was a guy I liked from when he was in the Rangers system. He flew under the radar in the STACKED pipeline years of the late 80s and early 90s, especially with Amonte and Weight drawing a lot of attention. But he had a nice career and I always found myself rooting for him.

Some of you have asked about the kind of stuff that goes on behind the scenes with drafting and scouting, how combine interviews go, etc.

Here is a prime example of how things used to be. While things have evolved, and certain approaches are not quite so...rough around the edges...the basic concept still holds true. They want to see how kids react when caught off guard, and they sometimes interview players they don't plan on taking in order to learn more about the players they do plan to take.

Full disclosure, this interview should not be played with the volume cranked at work or around kids.

Lmfaoooooooooooooo this is an awesome story. Great share

Zamuner started with the Rangers & they lost him to Tampa during expansion. He probably felt extra motivation to play harder against them.

Yeah I am unfortunately old enough to remember that.

Langkow would fit in nicely in the new NHL.

I wonder what Keenan would have thought of Zamuner.

Part of me thinks he would've been viewed somewhat similar to how Keenan viewed guys like Matteau and Noonan --- those bottom six pluggers he loved so much.

Seeing Ovi live for the first time!!

{Sigh} Yes. Yes he is.

My favorite player in that draft. Not saying I wish the Rangers took him, but he was my favorite player. Very clearly the motor on that dominant USNTDP line and a guy that will 100% succeed in the NHL even if not as an offensive all star. Wish he was playing out west.
