killing it for me in fantasy lol

1st time in past 3 years I don't have Carlson on my $$ team. We are a 12 team keeper league where we have an auction draft rather than a snake and his contract expired this year and tho he was up for grabs in the auction, I didn't pony up enough to get him as one of my league mates paid $22 bucks for him.

We have $250 budgets per team and so $22 for Dman is way up there as far as costs for Dmen. Anyways, a bit ticked I don't have him this year cause it looks very much like he's going to go over the 80 point mark which for a Dman is like a forward getting 100+ points...so good for you as he's been en fuego.

Some of you have asked about the kind of stuff that goes on behind the scenes with drafting and scouting, how combine interviews go, etc.

Here is a prime example of how things used to be. While things have evolved, and certain approaches are not quite so...rough around the edges...the basic concept still holds true. They want to see how kids react when caught off guard, and they sometimes interview players they don't plan on taking in order to learn more about the players they do plan to take.

Full disclosure, this interview should not be played with the volume cranked at work or around kids.

That is an awesome interview

Dont look now, but Edmonton, Vancouver, Carolina, Buffalo and Colorado are 5 of the leagues top 8 teams, thus far.
Ordinarily, you would have to turn your newspaper upside down in order for them to be near the top.

The Rangers, just may have very different teams jostling amongst one another for the top pick, or should I say best pctg. for the top pick.

Somewhere a former denizen of this board weeps.

It’s almost funny he hasn’t received a chance, considering his production and some of the teams he’s played on.

Netting 61 goals in 148 AHL games at least usually earns a few auditions, especially when you’re 20-22 years old.

From Friedman’s 31 Thoughts column today:
Saarela is a fascinating case study. A third-round selection by the Rangers in 2015, he went to the Hurricanes in the Eric Staal trade, to the Blackhawks with Calvin de Haan and now to the Panthers just four months later.
There is no doubting his talent — one former teammate said he has an absolute bomb of a shot, but “there’s a reason he’s been traded so many times.” He blasted Carolina on his way out, with the organization responding that he didn’t do the work expected of him and didn’t care to change that. He was not playing much at Rockford and didn’t like it. This is probably his final North American stop. Two guys with something to prove, two teams willing to gamble.

From Friedman’s 31 Thoughts column today:

Somewhere in that column belongs a smart ass joke about clueless David Quinn ruining kids by demanding certain actions and responsibilities.

But Mrs. Edge is looking for me to give her the Terry Ryan treatment and I don’t have time to respond to all that people that would be pissed off by the joke.

had no idea Jack Capuano was still in the NHL. A coach with Ottawa.

Speaking of Ottawa, Namestnikov with 4 goals and 7 points in 7 games in Ottawa obviously won’t sustain that pace, but I think it does qualify some of our posters’ qualms with Quinn’s player usage. Gifting top six and PP ice time to guys like Howden and Fast and Kreider but won’t give a guy like Namestnikov or Andersson a sniff of a top six role. No, I don’t think they’re top six players right now, but I had a feeling Namestnikov would be given a better opportunity and immediately produce once we moved him. If we’d given him top six minutes and he’d picked up 15 goals by the deadline we could have cashed in on that.

You could probably do better than 5 minutes.......right? I mean, I hope so.......anyway.

Daymond Langkow was a scoring phenom in the WHL who went fifth overall back in the 1995 draft.

He carved out a very solid NHL career, but never became that elite center he was hoped to be.

Langkow and Zamuner always seemed to score against the Rangers.
