Tony D, what's the hold up? Unless you're angling for a trade, your offer isn't going to get appreciably better.

There was no talk about a trade whatsoever. Neither from the DeAngelo camp nor the Rangers.

In any case I'm getting a little worried. Rangers seems adamant, which is bad. The offer made is just not remotely fair to ADA.*

Tony also seems adamant. Which ultimately only hurts the trade value for the Rangers! IF freaking Pionk can get 3m/y from his new team, ADA is gonna easily get that next season, if he plays anything from 40-82 games. I'm saying that ADA's value and next contract will not be determined by the next two months. Only if he doesn't play and the Rangers want to trade him, this situation lower the value for us.

Worst case scenario FOR THE RANGERS: Tony remains unsigned, gets traded for a bag of pucks and goes on to do his thing.

There is no other negative outcome to anyone associated. Some team will jump no matter the attitude.

*not gonna argue this any further. There is two camps and imo the "ADA has no leverage"-camp has no arguments. They just keep repeating their claim, that ADA can't warrant a raise, like a mantra. Or they whatabout Labanc or some other dude that played well but signed a team friendly deal.

How many times do people have to be told this?

PIONK HAD ARBITRATION RIGHTS

Zucc playing in the Dal-Min game. Skating with Parise and Donato.

Not exactly First but July theme anyway.

Why can't Rants and Laine just sign. I'll ask the Swiss to throw cheese on them if they continue their strike.

DeAngelo is a good player but he's not an established player yet. He's pretty much got his feet wet enough that you know he's legit. There are areas of improvement to be made. Personally I think it would be a mistake to trade someone say like Namestnikov or Strome to find more cap space for him. That said it's a lowball offer. Not unprecedented though. Rangers and most every team in the NHL have lowballed players pretty much since the cap came into being. The ball right now is in Tony's court but it's not likely the Rangers are going to give him much more if anything over what they offered him already though.

Sometimes you have to choose and life isn't always fair. If Tony decides to sit out training camp or part of the season or the entire season that's a choice that he makes and it's not my job to sit in judgement on the choices he makes. He's the one who ultimately going to live with whatever he chooses. That said--sitting out is not likely to put him on track for a bigger contract next year and it does make it more likely that the Rangers move on from him.

Big Buff saw the writing on the wall with Pionk getting added to the mix.:sarcasm:
Actually think something must be toxic in the room. During the playoffs it sounded like Wheeler and Maurice were going one way and the rest of the leadership group and team were going another. Hope Buff isn't dealing with concussions or other health issues that will linger past his playing career.

I have zero sympathy for Byfuglien after he got only 2 minutes for attempted murder on JT Miller a couple of years ago.
