The Avs killed it in the early rounds. If they get good goaltending out of Grubauer they can make some serious noise in the coming years.

It's gotta be 50% retention by Edmonton... I can't see any other way.
Calgary can also choose to not honor the modified NMC/NTC in 2021-22 and send him to the minors for even more cap relief

The Calgary boards are saying retention is 10% - don't know where they're getting that number from though.

Not a great deal for the Flames but they're the same age and have the same contracts with 10% retention- only difference is that Neal is coming off one bad season as opposed to two.
Guess it depends on which player you think has a better chance of bouncing back, and I think most people would say that was Neal.

10% retention on Lucic's contract still doesn't make it as low as Neal's. It's gotta be more otherwise why does Calgary do this? The contracts have the same amount of remaining years too so it's not like they took on less term. At least there's a chance for Neal to play with McDavid and/or Draisaitl and rebound.
Lucic is $6 mil Neal is 5.75 mil both for 4 years. Less than 5% makes them the same. Money is almost a wash

In all the years this has been discussed, that is still the only name I've ever heard that doesn't sound absolutely terrible to me. But they're probably gonna pick Totems or something that's just sort of...there. Just me.

Reading the main board. Apparently the Leafs rebuild didn't start until they drafted Matthews and hence they were rebuilt in one year. Selecting Nylander 8th and Marner 4th dont count and neither does missing the playoffs 10 of the previous 11 years.
