I remember this game. It was on a Saturday night. The Rangers were trailing 4-2 at the start of the 3rd period. Zubov's goal capped off the comeback to give the Rangers their first win on Long Island in 5 years.

That shot. So heavy. So effortless. We haven't had anything like it since.

This whole thing of players retiring or will never play again in the NHL is very depressing.

I dunno I guess it’s a reality check of enjoying the things you love to do the most because eventually can’t do them anymore.
So I was thinking... Your note reminded me: what about getting Jagr over to play with (or at least coach) Kakko? Eh...? No?

The Canucks are having a hell of an off-season so far.

Didn’t even 7x7 Tyler Myers yet.
Of all the teams out there, we Ranger fans should have some generosity, nay, magnanimity, toward the Canucks and their suffering fans.

I've never hoped a player wore a number more than I want him to wear 45 then
He can't take his number from his center...

As much as I'd like to blame millennials for the trend(or anything else for that matter), it kinda started in the 80s & 90s. When Joe Sakic was a rookie in 1988, he wore #88 for the season. I believe he only did it for a year & then switched to 19. Bret Lindros wore #75 for the Isles. There were others, but I'm drawing a blank at the moment.
88 I could see though. The double numbers are generally fine.

77 is an absolute classic for defensemen.

I'm fine with it. People are having fun. I'm so sick of the same old "Let's Go Rangers" and "Potvin Sucks" stuff.

I personally think that MSG have guys walking around with clubs and if you are seen starting the potvin chant you should be beaten with said clubs and thrown out of the building. 99% of the building doesnt even know who potvin is

On board with this.

In fact, nuns from the Church of Kakko should hit you with rulers.

The funny thing about Hughes wearing 86 is the crap Devils fans have given every other fan base about letting players where non traditional numbers; when supposedly not wearing high numbers was part of their organizational identity

Their organizational identity is having more Cups than us since they came into existence and still being completely anonymous.

I found it kind of odd that the Devils/Hughes revealed his number before the kid even signed his ELC with them. I mean we all know he is going to sign but i think they did it backwards...guess they need the jersey sales to help pay for his signing bonus?

They could listen to a Florida broadcast or two--barring that though I'll make it easy--Potvin is a dick and that will come through pretty quickly if you listen because he's a real homer and sanctimonious as all get out and he never even played for the Panthers. He's not quite on the Mario Lemieux or Don Cherry level of dickhood but for my money he beats out Mike Milbury and he's at least close to the Martin Brodeur level. As far as the chant that goes back to his poleaxing of Ulf Nilsson--who was the never the same afterwards. So I don't mind some Rangers fans letting off a bit of steam in his direction--it seems to have worked to keep his evil ass out of MSG--kind of like a priest sprinkilng holy water about to keep the devil out of the house. Preventative in other words. Mind you that I'm kind of on the atheistic side of things but if somone were to come by the house and say I can do yada, yada and yada and you won't ever have to worry about Denis Potivn showing up at your door I would give him the go ahead because Denis Potvin can go f*** himself. And for the record his hit on Nilsson--it was a really cheap shot.

Like 1% of the people taking part in the Potvin Chants these days actually know who he is.
