I'm actually a little surprised Zubby got in this soon.

I kind of agree with this as one could easily question whether or not is Zubie really a Hall of Famer in the first place?

Looking at his career #'s, it really doesn't scream Hall of Fame to me and trust me I love me my Zubov as much as anyone.

16 years...152 goals...619 assists...771 points in 1068 games.

An average year for Zubie was 11 goals...47 assists....58 points. Very good #'s but is it HOF #s?

He has his name on the Cup twice and was an all-star just once which I was a bit surprised about.

In the playoffs he had 72 points in 114 games...pretty impressive for a defenseman for sure.

I dunno, tough call. Personally, I think he's an easy call for the Hall of the Very Good. I'm just not sure I think of Zubov as a Hall of Fame type player in the company of a Leetch, Bourque, Chelios,Park,Potvin, Robinson...etc...etc.

I guess as much as I love Zubov, I don't put him in those other Dmen I mentioned neighborhood's. I'm not going to lose sleep nor complaing about it as I'm very happy about Zubie getting inducted but I could see the argument that he also might fall a bit short of HOF and this is a bit surprising he even got in if that makes sense.

Well deserved. :thumbu:

Still one of the worst Ranger trades ever. Sigh.

No question about that. Terrible move by Neil Smith on that one...horrific.

Only two trades come to mind that were worse than our trading Zubov for Robitaille and Samuelsson was when John Ferguson in his infinite wisdom decided to trade Rick Middleton for Ken Hodge(ugggggg.....argggggg) and when Espo who was our GM at the time dealt Mike Ridley and Kelly Miller for Bobby Carpenter(ugggggg....arggggg).

I might be forgetting a few but those two I mentioned were the only two top of my head that came to mind as worse than that Zubov deal.

That face when Zubov is the best NHLer of his hall of fame class. Wickenheiser belongs. The rest are meh. I personally have Zubov and Carb in the hall of very good. When does Mogilny get in?

I'm conservative when it comes to HOF inductees and I don't think Carb or Zub should be in. I also generally don't believe in management getting in. I think, in many instances, they are successful due to circumstance. Sather would be example number 1 in this sense. However, there are certain times when players should be in for more than just their on-ice impact.

Nedomansky is, in my opinion, possibly the most deserving member of this class. He was the first player to defect from behind the Iron Curtain to play in NA. He paved the way for many of the great Eastern European players that came after him. This is the sort of extraordinary circumstance (similar to Willie O'Ree) that is deserving of enshrinement.

Really bad draft class. I believe its an artifact of the 'dead puck era' players now becoming eligible. but, 2020 is going to be better with Iggy, Alfie, and Hossa becoming eligible. 2021 will have Jagr and the Sedins.

It would be hilarious if only one Sedin made it in 2021, and the other gets in in 2022.

There's no way the NHL will do that. And frankly, it would be pathetic and really wrong of them.

I loved Zubov but yeah not a great class after Wickenheiser. What's keeping mogilny out? And long wait for carbonneau, last nhl game was in 2000 I think. Do players ever drop off the ballot?

Also selection committee has a bunch of rangers ties-- JD, colin Campbell, mike Gartner, jari kurri and luc robitaille.

from what i have read, Luongo's retirement has notable Cap implications for Canucks ...

Yeah, Vancouver's end of the cap recapture is worse because they benefitted more from the back-diving. $3m for 3 years to them. $1m for 3 years to the Panthers.
