Brutal for the Canes, what were they thinking?

Our boy Saarela going to the Hawks, still think he has decent NHL upside.
I think they need a goalie and want to free up room for one of their D prospects who are ready to make the jump

And I'm still on the fence about Saarela, he's got a good shot, but I don't know if he's quick enough to really make use of it at the NHL level

When the Canucks trade for Jonathan Tanner Miller for a potentially unprotected 1st+ and rumored to be heavily courting Myers who is looking for ~$7X7 in a depleted D market but lets Ben Hutton go unqualified because he's too expensive as an arbitration eligible player who will get ~$4.5M/1yr and Panarin reportedly won't sign with Vancouver, Duchene is in Nashville, Zuccarello is going elsewhere and you're about to spend $10,000,000+ on whatever is left in the market in a year of contract year overachieving warning stickered UFA group by a management team that recently signed Roussel and Beagle for $6,000,000 combined and Sutter for $4.375M and it's going to cost you assets to get rid of Eriksson who already sold his home in Vancouver and Petterson is still on a $925,000 ELC and you have essentially only your own pick for every round for the draft for the next three years and nothing else minus the 1st for JT Miller and your GM's contract expires in a year and you pick up a deluxe meat lover's pizza after a 20 minute wait

Thank God Dolan doesn’t lean on Gorton and the Rangers like the Vancouver ownership does to that front office

Vegas signing William Karlsson are $8 mil above the cap ceiling. Yeah--subtract Clarkson's $5.4 but that's also without a signed backup goalie and Gusev isn't signed either and he won't be on an ELC--so Vegas will have to dump somebody or other to be cap compliant.

Saw this for the first time in a while, man this might be my favorite Ranger goal ever in terms of the aesthetic aspect. when a set play like that works, it's the greatest.

I know he's not the same player he used to be but man do I miss Gaborik. Guy could absolutely fly and score from anywhere. Most lethal sniper we've had since Jagr even if they were 2 completely different players.

lots of talk of the preds going after duchene but I don't see how they can make that work without moving kyle turris...they've got RyJo signed for 6 more years @ $8 mil as the 2nd line center if you give duchene 9+...and they have turris signed for 5 more years @ $6 mil per. wtf was nashville thinking giving him that contract? is there a worse contract in the entire league not named milan lucic?

crazy that less than 2 years ago, the preds gave up some good assets and took on turris to help facilitate the trade of matt duchene to ottawa...and now turris is the guy in the way of them getting duchene

All it takes is one bad contract. Consider all the decent contracts they hit on or avoided and it still didn’t yield them a cup.

I was so pissed when we traded Gaborik. I remember the abuse Torts put on him. Then less than two months after he was traded, Torts got fired. Just terrible trade.

Saarela is a guy who is a mystery to me. Warts and all, he's scored 61 goals in 147 AHL games.

You'd think that would be worth at least a look.

Remember a month after the season where we acquired Nash and a bunch of people were shitting on Gaborik about being overrated/invisible by comparison?

I remember.

Gabby's 3OT winner against the caps is one of my favorite sport memories.

I didn't get to see it due to being behind on DVR and it not recording all the way through.

I guess technically I wouldn't have seen it real time either way, but that still pissed me off.
