Just 52 points in his first 155 games... just shows you have to be patient sometimes

50-point players with fewer NHL games at this stage in their career (Compared to Lias): Couture, Scheifele, Marchand, Barzal, Granlund, Koivu, Stone, Hoffman, Benn, Nelson, Niederreiter, Danault, B. Schenn, Oshie, Athanasiou, K. Hayes, Labanc, Dzingel, D. Strome, Tatar, Marchessault, Pavelski, Meier, Connor, Atkinson, Domi, Krejci, Hertl, Guentzel, Giroux, Wheeler, Huberdeau, Point, Gaudreau.

So yeah, let's be patient

The Blues franchise really turned around after Fatso left.
Was thinking more when Shatty left. Is there any wonder WHY they seperated from him? Look how solid their defense was. Would they have won WITH Shatty? One can only wonder.
Regardless, happy for Blues fans, doubly happy, that spoiled city DIDN'T get yet another title.

They traded Shattenkirk because they didn't want to lose him for nothing in free agency

We now all live in a world where Del Zotto is a Stanley Cup champion.

Not him in particular, but I've always wondered how players on winning teams who contribute little or nothing feel. The one that stands out to me because it was so monumental was the backup goalie on the 1980 Lake Placid team. Yes, he has a gold medal but he didn't play one second in the Olympics.

Happy (given options) that the Blues won. The story of their incredible in-season turnaround, the goalie story, previously Cup-less franchise, two likable Russians with totally different but very important roles, O’Reilly finally getting an opportunity to shed the “loser” taint and in the processes getting a CS trophy! And mostly because the Cup didn’t go to Bruins.

Christmas of 1989 I was 15 years old and my big gift that year from my parents was a Brett Hull St Louis Blues jersey from Gerry Cosby. At that time I didn't even have a Rangers Jersey. Hull had just come on the scene and he was lighting up the NHL. Even though the Winnipeg Jets were my second favorite team I also adopted the Blues and I've always had a rooting interest for them over the years.

I pulled that. Jersey from Storage yesterday and I'm going to wear it tonight, still fits though tight around the waist.

First writing I ever did for hockey's future was in 1998 about the newly-formed Trenton Titans of the ECHL. The coach was a very young Bruce Cassidy. Eventually one of the goaltenders was Steve Valiquette. One of my co-workers was season ticket holder right up against the glass to the right side of the home goal. She eventually became good friends with Cassidy and the goaltenders including valiquette we all had a dinner at her house their last name was Goldberg and they were flyer fans which if anybody knows the show The Goldbergs you can understand the irony.

So no matter who wins tonight I will feel happy in part to either side, oh I do admit I want to see the Blues win, that fanbase has waited a long time I think we know one or two things about that.

Me, my dad, and my brother all wore various ranger jerseys last night, and my two friends who are devil's fans wore their devil's attire. It made for a fun atmosphere. What a f***ing game

I can't believe the Islanders picked Reinhart over Skjei
I can't believe Dallas picked Glennie over Kreider
I can't believe Calgary picked Bärtschi over Miller

Am I doing this right?

Sorry, but no. All of those guys picked ahead of the NYR picks were either regarded higher or were considered the same tier. When the rangers took McIlrath, everyone knew it was a mistake *that day*, and there were better players on the board. Among them, Fowler, and Tarasenko.

I'm not mad at taking Bobby Sangunetti over Grioux. nobody really saw that coming. But i can be mad at the McIlrath pick.

Every team messes up with high picks.

Pittsburgh: Pouliot
Washington: Pokulok
Tampa: Koekkoek, Connolly
Atlanta: Burmistrov
Dallas: Jack Campbell
Columbus: Filatov, Brule
Chicago: Beach, Skille, Barker
Boston: Hamill
Florida: Ellerby, Olesz
Phoenix: Mueller
Vancouver: Bourdon

Maybe it's time to just let it go and move on. It's been 9 years.

I know, but its hard when you just watch a guy who you knew 9 years ago your team should have drafted, hoist the cup after scoring 11 playoff goals. Especially in the context of our lack of scoring in the 2014 finals. It stings.

2 or 3 more goals in the finals, and the rangers win the cup in 5 games. All we needed was a difference maker. Its hard not to think about who that player could have been.

Picking McIlrath over Tarasenko cost us the 2014 cup. I'm convinced of it. The blues only played 6 games in that 2014 playoffs, but he scored 4 goals in those games.
