Nyquist for a 2nd should be a good comp for Smith, esp with another 50% retain bringing him down to pennies.

At these rates, makes you wonder what Kreider could get? Probably too soon.

Drury's next move should be to see if Panarin will waive and if so, get a haul for him with 50% retention while Carolina hem and haw about what they're doing with Rantanen.
There really isn't a team that has 5ish million in space unless we're getting a bad contract back since Panarin has more than a year.

Rantanen can be moved because he's only got this year.

There are ways to solve that problem. A third team also retains, or we take back some salary. I would imagine if we retain 50% and take back 2.5 in salary for this season, a team could afford him - next season the cap goes up so 5 million shouldn't be an issue for the team that trades for him.

just checking, did you see where i said "unless we're taking back a bad contract"?

Like I've been saying don't worry about draft picks and draft capital, that they're really easy to get if that's what you want.

how much would Bjorkstrand cost?

we really need a shooter that can skate

Seattle gave up a 3rd and 4th for him
There was some kind of cap crunch that played into that. With the cap going up, those deals aren't going to be out there in all likelihood.

Just listening to Pagnotta on the radio (don't shoot the messenger) that he's hearing Kreider being talked about.
I know Pagnotta doesn't bring anything news breaking just thought I would share.
