People hate on younger players who have any personality

Look at the way media/fans have been bashing the way Yakupov reacts when he scores goals and other younger players

Keys to realignment will be 4 Divisions...and playing home and home with every team in the league with playoffs inside division first.

The playoff division format sucks.

Daly says NHL has tweaked realignment plan approved by board last season, but it has same four-conference structure. Won't give details.

Daly said playoff format has been part of realignment discussion with union but would not give specifics.

This is the NHL realignment proposal from December 2011

Conference "D"
Carolina
New Jersey
New York Islanders
New York Rangers
Philadelphia
Pittsburgh
Washington

4 top teams make the playoffs. Patrick Division.

NHL wants realignment approved by the end of this month which will begin with the 2013-14 season.

Ugh. I love division matchups, but won't it get boring seeing the same few matchups every spring? But does this open up a possibility to a Rangers/Bruins SCF, for example?

I don't like how the 2 Florida teams end up in the "northeast division." They should send Washington up there and let us have the Panthers.

Edit: But I guess it encourages more of a rivalry for the Bolts and Panthers to be in the same division. They should send the Canes and Capitals to the Northeast then.

People love to use the "personality" excuse to defend when players act stupid so much that I'm beginning to think some people actually believe "personality" means acting like an arrogant, entitled, petulant dick.

lol.

Patrick Division gets screwed. Pitts/Philly/NJ/NYR/CAR/WSH beat each other up before advancing. All are legitimate playoff contending teams.

I like it in theory, but the first few years (I'm talking ~10) this is in place, the Rangers easily have the toughest division in the game. Will make for some great playoffs, though.

The NHL had not decided how the playoff format will be set up after the first 2 rounds.

The Rangers played the Flyers in the playoffs 5 times in 6 years in the 1980's.

Rangers/Flyers
Rangers/Islanders
Rangers/Caps

Those were the playoff series. 1-4. 2-3. Winners play each other. Winner played the Adams Division winner(Boston,MTL,etc.)in the Conference Finals.

In the 1st season of the current format(1993-94),the Rangers played 3 Patrick Division foes.

If I remember correctly, no. The first two rounds would be within your own mega division...then the ECF would be against the winner of the other mega division winner. So Boston would be in Conference "C" for example...and if we are in "D" we'd have to play them in the ECF.

4 out of 7 would make it, though. Compared to 4 out of 8 in two other divisions.

Under the 2011 proposal, the 4 conference winners would then re-seed, so a Boston-NY SCF would be possible.

As far as Subban goes, he did some things as a rookie that rubbed people the wrong way like throw all his dirty equipment all over the locker room and make trainers pick it up. There was an article about it.
He's also done some dirty things on the ice like when he slew footed Dubinsky.

I can't stand the new format because so basically, if you finish 5th in your Division/Conference/whatever and have 105 points but teams in different Division/Conference/whatever finish 2nd and have 89 points they get in the playoffs? That's not fair.

Also, certain teams just match up badly with other teams so they may never get out of the first or second round for a good decade. Is that fair? If anything, it hurts interest in attracting new fans if their team gets knocked out by the same juggernaut every year. I'm not just talking about the Rangers. See the Smythe Division in the 80s for examples.

Kind of like the realignment plan.

Don't like them being considered "divisions".

Personally would like it if they were referred to and treated as four separate "conferences". This way, Stanley Cup Final match ups could be any "conference" vs any "conference".

It would make for a lot of interesting Finals, that haven't previously been possible.

And hopefully the "conferences" or "divisions" have unique/meaningful names.

Orr, Gretzky, Messier, Howe

Something like that.
