its amazing how easily detroit enters the offensive zone. the dump and chase is a last resort for them. how the rangers struggle with it so much boggles my mind.

Been like that for over 20 years. I've always wished we could have a team that looks something close to that. I have to agree with a poster I argued about recently, that probably won't happen with Torts. I think the best we can hope for is a team that does that once in a while, unlike last year's team that was incapable of it.

Dump and chase rarely wins championships if it's your team's bread and butter.

It is for the Rangers. No one can effectively carry the puck into the O-zone except for Nash and Hags. Everyone else is grinding.

They can't all be puck control wizards like Brian friggin Boyle. Amirite?

BTW, can someone explain to me how the St. Louis Blues are not only #1 but are and away better than #2 on the PP? How is it that they're at almost 35% on the PP and the Rangers and Bruins are both below 10%? Blows my mind. Really, the Bruins are an even bigger enigma. Lots of talented forwards. The big shot in Chara. A good offensive defenseman in Hamilton. Hell, I believe they're the best team in the NHL on the draws. What the hell?

On TSN's intermission show, Aaron Ward said we're the most likely Eastern Conference team to acquire O'Reilly. He thinks it'll be a complicated deal with multiple pieces going to each side. I personally doubt it. Too early and we're playing too well for that kind of major shakeup, and we don't really have the prospects to deal for him at this point.

I can see the Rangers packaging Del Zotto/Boyle for ROR/defenseman

“@NHL_Sens: Update on Karlsson: Erik suffered a laceration to his left achilles, which will require surgery to repair. He will be out indefinitely.”

well when the strategy is to never ever carry the puck in its hard for anyone to get better at it. i dont believe the players aren't capable of carrying the puck into the zone, its the system and torts refuses to change it. you don't have to be a superstar to be able to carry the puck into the zone.

I don't think so either, but ROR could be a great player to have.

Kreider-Richards-Gaborik
Hagelin-Stepan-Nash
Miller-O'Reilly-Callahan

:hyper:

But in all likelihood Miller would need to be part of the package. Pyatt would slot into his spot in that case. Either way, thats an incredible top 9 and we can hope Stepan/O'Reilly develop into a #1 center in case buying out Richards becomes necessary.

Yes, I know I'm getting way ahead of myself because as I said earlier it's almost impossible to make it work, even ignoring the cap.

Yikes, feel bad for Karlsson.

And ROR would be a fantastic get pending the cost. He would fit the identity of the team perfectly, and keep in mind he is the same age as Kreider.

It won't happen because Slats won't pay him. I also admit that the fact that he has only had 1 break out year is a risk too. But he has the potential to be a damn valuable C on a contender.

It honestly almost looks like Cooke brings his foot up as they ride in to the boards and then steps down on his leg.

Why did he take his skate off the ice?

It wasn't intentional, it wasn't anything out of the realm of normal **** that goes on in every NHL game. It was a fluke injury, an unfortunate one, but it wasn't intentional or even irresponsible or whatever someone wants to call it
