Callahan was a greedy SOB so people around here missed him less.

What is this?
Esposito being a moron as GM, clouds in the sky, water is wet, news at 11.

The rumor at least around here and Rangers internet was his wife had a lot to do with him wanting out. She was a suburban girl and didn't dig NY.

Can you really blame him? It was his time to cash out. I never viewed it as him being greedy only him negotiating. It's like in any job when you they bring in outside people and give them roles and promote people from within, when it comes your turn and yo give them two weeks and they give you a week counter, you gotta say no.

He asked the Ranger for A LOT more than he ended up getting elsewhere. His demands were 7x7M and he ended up with 6x5.8M

Either way, that's a contract I wouldn't have wanted for what he brought to the table.

People always will ask the Rangers for more. NY taxes + reputation for throwing money at UFAs like drunk sailors in the pre-cap era.

back when you could trade coaches and PURE CASH

Kane isn't signing on with a team that has no shot at the Cup anytime soon. Fake news.
besides DET being a non-contender, signing with DET or STL would be like a life long Ranger signing with the Islanders so it's really hard to believe there'd be any shot at that.

That is not a legit source, so yeah…
I wasn't sure if it was credible; Detroit isn't a top contender (can they make noise, yes, but that's about it; they're still a number of pieces away). Wonder when Yzerman starts to accelerate their build; they might start to get antsy in Red Wing land. I don't know their cap situation, if they could pay him what he would want.

I just hope it happens, so we don't have to talk about Kane signing with the Rangers anymore.

the person that tweet is quoting, John Dietz, writes for Daily Herald which appears to be a legitimate news site. I don't know how good his reputation is in terms of reporting but he's at least a professional reporter and not a blogger.

That's why the stupid salary cap needs to have a sliding scale based on the cost of living in the individual cities/states.

Honestly I could care less about Kane at this point. He wants to come here for cheap? Cool. He doesn't? Good for him.

This team is going to have a long spring run if they have some fiber and get quicker.
Where is he rumored to be going? I bet the Islander fans are thinking he's going there.

I would rather the state get their shit together, stop easting money, stop stealing money and the be able to lower the taxes to get in line with most of the rest of the country. But nope not going to happen with this administration in charge. Just wait till the debt bomb comes in a year or two.

The problem here isnt the NHL. Its NYS.

Hopefully the equipment guys fill the bottles on the bench with Metamucil instead of Gatorade.

The Zegras report about seeing if the team improves to sign long term is weird. Like, you are apart of them getting better. The rebuild literally just started and all the players are still so young. Seems odd to be putting them on the burner already. Terry, Zegras, McTavish, Carlsson, Drysdale, Helleson, Luneau, Gaucher, Pastujov.

Seems odd to me I guess.

There was a mention about him at the beginning of the the most recent 32T podcast. Friedman made it seem like his celebrity status is rising exponentially lately, particularly because he just started dating one of the worlds largest Tic Tok stars. That sentence makes me feel old and nauseous at the same time, but reading between the lines I think it’s becoming more of a market thing for him.

Money talks obviously, but I went from wistfully joking about him coming to NY in the near future to actually thinking we are a few years from those familiar “rumors” starting up.

It’s a long shot, but a shot none the less!

Wasn't a great thread to place my thoughts, so here it goes.
Taking a quick look at October's schedule (9 games) we possibly can get out of the gate with a 7-2 or possibly even an 8-1 start. Schedule looks favorable enough.
I'm probably underestimating a few teams, but am feeling OUR team will be out for blood this year. As a team and certainly for some individuals that have TONS to prove after last year's debacle.

That was a reason why a posted the above tweet. I looked at the tweet/John Dietz page to see if that guy worked for a legit mews outlet. Again, I don't know his reputation, but he looks to be legitimate.

They should adapt elements of all the other major leagues:

-Franchise A Player
-Prorated salary for homegrown players
-Luxury Tax

It doesn't have to get crazy either. Slight amendments.

Rongos don't do strong starts.

We enter January barely in a wild card spot, then go on some big time winning streaks.
