HUGE around the NHL day for the Islanders tomorrow. DET and WSH have a game in hand and need just 1 point to catch them, tie them, but beat them on RW tie breaker. if DET or WSH gets a point against NYR and CAR respectively, Islanders slouch back out of a spot. Philly also dead tied with Islanders but have the tie breaker and play the Sabres. It could be very good or very bad for the Islanders tomorrow. They're the one team playing well right now.

In theory, Flyers should get one of the spots, their schedule is a joke, but they might be so run into the ground they lose games to the awful teams.

Nice to see CAR with the L. That should just about wrap up the division for us. Assuming they go 5-1 the rest of the way we need to finish 3-3 to hold them off. That probably won't be good enough to hold off BOS though.
I think we do hold the tie breaker with Boston but you're right not sure 3-3 gets it done. Probably 4-2 or 3-2-1at the very least. We are stuck in a position now where we should try to win the conference.

Not sure how good that theory is anymore since they not only lost in a recent stretch of easy games but actually got spanked in them (Losing by aggregate score of 9-2 vs Chicago and Montreal). They should get 5 points in their next 3 games but would not be surprised if they got 1 or 2 points.

3-3 would give the Rangers 112 points. Boston would then need to go 4-1 to get to 113 as they would lose any tie breaker. Carolina would have to go 5-0-1 to win the division. Numbers are in Rangers favor for both the division and conference.

It would be tough but not impossible considering the game they just played tonight on the road in Carolina.

We're in big trouble with seeding. It's a shame how it all works. Just want it to end. We've played too well for this bullshit.

Tampa looks unbeatable right now. Ridiculous.

Pens loss was so huge.

Need devs to win out. Don’t want them anywhere near the lottery.
Why though? The devils have been a lottery team for decades now and what have they done with it? The only thing they have is their deluded shitty fans constantly mouthing off how they have the most talent in the league and if you look at xGF while excluding FO%, PP and PK but only on Tuesdays but not in months with an R in it, the devils have been the most dominant team. I can't help but pick on those f***ers.

Rangers 4-2 114 points
Boston 4-0-1 114 points
Carolina 6-0 113 points

Rangers have already clinched the breaker with Boston if they finish with the same amount of points.

Win the Ottawa and Montreal games, split the Islander games, split the Wings and Flyers games, this seems very reasonable to clinch 1 in the east.

BU’s Macklin Celebrini. Even the slightest change is a chance and the devs have a history of being very lucky.

I get that brother. My point is that I think the devils are a more talented version of the isles because both franchises suck and are good at getting very little of their fantastically high picks. The devils have been winning lotteries and grabbing high picks forever and remain an annual lottery team with some random good years mixed in inconsistently. Pittsburgh - now that's a team that you don't want winning the lottery...

I’m not seeing it. I think the chances of us playing Tampa are pretty low. It can happen, but it’s much more likely that we are playing WC2 or M3.

The Rangers need to gird their loins and take out whoever they face in R1 in 4 or 5 games. No mistakes, no mercy. They'll have the home ice advantage, they'll be completely healthy and though no one looks undefeatable, everyone except for wildcard 2 looks evenly matched.

The Rangers compare favorably in talent, grit, goaltending, special teams, coaching and home ice. All the hard work has gotten them to this point of matching up strong against the other contenders so there's no reason to worry about the opponent - they need to execute their game.
