Rangers 4-2 114 points
Boston 4-0-1 114 points
Carolina 6-0 113 points

Rangers have already clinched the breaker with Boston if they finish with the same amount of points.

Win the Ottawa and Montreal games, split the Islander games, split the Wings and Flyers games, this seems very reasonable to clinch 1 in the east.
bookmakers feel the same way. fanduel has rangers to obtain the most eastern conference points at -550 odds. Fanduel doesnt have odds for us the win the division but bovada pricing is at -1600

Race for final 2 East playoff spots has really gotten crazy now
Phila, Wash, NYI, Detroit all at 7 games over 0.500, Pens at 5+
4 team race for Metro 3rd
5 team race for East WC2

My prediction the penguins get the 3rd metro spot.

And the flyers hang on to WC2

I think the Rangers hanging 2 Ls on the islanders plus a game against Montreal (they always lose) and Nashville will be a serious reality check for the islanders this week.

What about Dallas?

I care less about the Presidents trophy than I do about the Conference title. We need that 1 seed. Feels like Boston just eliminated Carolina from the running

I have a fear that Pittsburgh gets in as the 8th seed.

I could see Piles and Pens getting in tbh. We could crush the Piles dream with the 2 games we still have against them

Rangers have a clean 5 pt lead on Carolina in the division. We’ve gone about 30 games without giving up even a pt to Carolina in the standings. We’ve extended the lead actually. I’m not sure why anyone would think we’d give up 6 (they’d need 6 for the tie break) in 6 games to win the division. Just more analytics bias or anti Rangers bias. Carolina is done

The way we move the puck and our powerplay against their putrid PK is a nightmare matchup for islanders. I’d be surprised if we didn’t win both these games to close their season out

Goal differential has always been one of the most strongly related metrics to points. Flyers/Islanders/Caps are just downright putrid.

not completely healthy without chytil.

bottom 6 deployment will be a big thing.
I expect Lavi to start a series by putting the goodrow line on the opposing 1L, which shall cause at least one loss, and then I hope he adjusts to have Wennberg's line take on that duty, maybe with Vesey, then a 4L of Cuylle Goodrow Brodz/Rempe can simply crash and provide energy.

I don't want to be so negative towards them but I kind of agree on the whole. They look better than before the deadline, but I'm not scared of them. They've lost meaningful games down the stretch here to teams that will be right on their radar in playoffs. They are so all in on this season, I am tuned in to see what happens next there, after this year.

the rangers can probably beat anyone, and they can definitely lose to anyone. That's just cup playoffs.

my wings fan friends think NYR is the best matchup for them, and I feel like DET is ideal for us. strange how fans evaluate the matchups

Who would we prefer make the playoffs: Shittsburgh or the Piles?

Isles and Caps(i know you didnt mention them) over Pens. -25 & -38 goal diff for both of them. They arent good teams, theyve just been given an oppurtunity by the fact that Philly/Detroit dont want it. Pens could actually win a round if they wind up playing CAR. Would be great drama with Guenztel.

This is very true. If you give up more goals than you score, you do not deserve to be in the playoffs.

Isles ainec

Pitts, particularly Crosby and Rust, have had this bloodlust for us for years now and I want nothing to do with another playoff series against them.
Don't make too much out of the last time we played them. We owned them in all the other games we played. The last time was a trap game so I wouldn't put too much into that.

Islanders won their 3 easy games. Only hard games left (plus Mon). It's really up to them.

Philly and Washington are running out of gas.

Isles or Pens are getting in I think. Maybe both. Unless we f*** up the Islanders.

Tomorrow a big day for all teams

The Wings aren't physical and they have suspect defense and goaltending. Sign me up.

I'd like any of WSH PHI or DET.

They are slogging their way through and would basically fall into a spot instead of winning it.

Pens are climbing and would be on a run if they get in. I'd rather avoid that.

Still could see Tampa too. Have to keep winning.

While I agree with anybody can beat anybody in the playoffs, your friend the Wings fan fancies their chances against the Rangers? He likes the team currently out of the playoffs over the team leading the league?
