All while playing against arguably the only goalie in the league shittier than their combo. Or at least in the conversation for one of the three worst. Shows you how much other teams respect them right now...

Edit: And by that I mean the Lightning, while playing a game against their direct competition for the last playoff spot, are playing a backup with a GAA over 3.5 and an 885 sv%. I know they played yesterday and started Vasy, but that shows you who they are viewing as more of a threat, and it's the team that's behind the Devils, and have lost more games than they've won.
They were gifted playing two bad backup goalies at home this weekend. They barely beat Montreal. Tampa outclassed them today.

Maybe the Devils of last year were way ahead of schedule. They have basically the same roster this season and are so average. Hughes is a great talent but gives off that whiny Crosby vibe. Could not have happened to a more Mickey Mouse franchise.

And remember when Devils fans said that Akira Schmid was the real deal? Everyone knows how average he is in goal.

This devils team is lousy. Jack Hughes blaming the goalies for this mess? They are getting torched defensively. And Tampa is playing like crap too. But devils look just as bad as they did the other day.
I know all HFboards cares about is offensive production and J. Hughes is an offensive threat but when him and his brother are defending in their own zone yikes.

The Rangers will face either Detroit or TB if things stay the same. The other teams behind them don't seem to have much going on. Detroit or TB aren't catching Boston, Florida or Toronto. TB's depth is bad.
Tampa is still battle tested and knows how to win. I can see them easily getting past the first round. Don’t think that’s an easy 7 game series

"Average?" Dude is rocking a 3.5 and .890 on the season, and nearly that for his career. "Average" would have them in the playoffs. Their goalies (and D) are trash.

Devils should have traded for Hellebyuck before the season started.

Sure, they've had a bunch of injuries, but the goaltending has sunken them further than the injuries have.

Too little too late. I agree. They can trade for Markstrom now and still miss the playoffs. They waited way too long to fix the goalie issues

Flyers 1-0. Flyers start out like they did yesterday. Penguins multiple giveaways already. Someone mentioned Lars Eller. Maybe 10 years ago, now not the same player. Would be a waste

NJ's problem is their entire forward group is basically the same player.

They can crow about their goaltending all they want (and it does suck) but their defense is just as bad. Nemec is going to be a stud but the rest of that D is either old and bad, or soft as f*** and overrated.

Carolina figured them out last year and that was a version of them that had everything go right for them. I got shit from their biggest tire pumpers for saying that a healthy season of Hischer and Hughes was an anomaly. Injuries are a feature with Jack (who is clearly playing through a right shoulder thing right now, they'll shut him down once they commit to tanking or he gets dinged again, which ever comes first.)

The goalie alone won't be enough for this team. Anyone who wants to drag them into a knife fight in a playoff series will have their way with them.
