Everything he was supposedly good at, the org was bad at. You know what player type the org desperately needed the last 2 playoff runs? His type. They still haven't filled that type because it's incredibly hard to get. Still a hole. People talking about giving up a ton for years for Anthony Cirelli or Yanni Gourde - why is that more worth it than just drafting that dude?
Because while giving up "a ton" is going to hurt... It's still in the realm of possibility.

Cost controlled top line game breaking talent is just never available, for any amount.

You swing for the fences to get cost controlled top line talent in the top 10... why? Because that is the only place it is consistently available.

Krav was unnecessary for a variety of reasons. Dobson .and Wahlstrom were right there and the Rangers weren't SO flush on talent they could torch a pick like that.
How does LA resemble either of those players in any way? Dude can’t skate at all. Both of those guys have motors that never stop.

You answered your own question.

No one gets drafted with the assumption they'll get worse at skating which he... did. Unlucky.

Is Staple back on the Isles beat? Haven’t seen him post anything but Isles stuff lately.

Islanders getting their stools pushed in is a nice late christmas gift.

he does both NYR + NYI for the Athletic, part of their many cost cutting measures....

its hard to imagine a place that charges $1 for a years subscription is having financial troubles.

Colorado was up 4-0 on the Yotes.

It’s now 4-4 late 3rd.
don't think they have enough talent to keep things going when it gets tough near the end of the season. They're getting by on Torts hockey and it's hard to grind out wins at crunch time

Sometimes that’s all it takes to get in.

I don’t think they’ll do much if they get in but they’ve shown a lot more than some of the other teams in the running.

Islanders fans blaming the refs for calling an early whistle back and giving pittsburgh a good goal on a 1-0 goal and blames the next 6 goals on the shape of Long Island and the way it's been eroded into by the waves and wind and tectonic movement of the earth's plates.

Not sure what to make of it, but I'm intrigued that the recent standout top picks are shooters/scorers. Matthews, Hughes, Bedard. McDavid is technically an exception, but he could put up 60 every season if he wanted.
