Honestly, EJ has a point. It’s utterly f***ing ridiculous that Cuylle had to fight after that hit, but he was more than obliging and the gloves were dropped simultaneously.

Now, if you were to tell me that this is a new interpretation of the rule that we can expect to see administered consistently moving forward, I’d both be all about it and laughing at EJ. But I see his point here.

"Cuylle, meanwhile, got only five minutes for the fight and didn’t get penalized for a high hit on Ryan Johnson that started it all"

Lol, "high hit"... "that was a hard hit against the team I like so that means it's a penalty"...is pretty much what that dork is saying.

I understand. I'm not bashing the picks. Gorton must feel snake bit.
Slaf was the upside pick in his draft. Nemec projected as a mid tier #1D, Cooley weighed 114 pounds, Wright was a head case (and still is!).

I totally get why you'd take him. He's gonna take 5 years to play into his body.

Yeah the recent picks are too young to judge. Gorton seems to get his top 10 picks in draft years that aren't excellent. Thats why I said he must feel snake bit.

I'll go to the mat on the Lias pick being fine. Fight me.
Beginning of a rebuild, team decides to go off the board with the "character" pick.

Turns out, they aren't very good judges of character, and the player couldn't even hit his very low ceiling. At the draft his ceiling was a middle 6 center... CEILING.

That's not what you use top 10 picks on.

Kravtsov is a pick I can understand. It didn't work out (same failure in character judgement)... But at least it's a home run swing that the team desperately needed.

Everything he was supposedly good at, the org was bad at. You know what player type the org desperately needed the last 2 playoff runs? His type. They still haven't filled that type because it's incredibly hard to get. Still a hole. People talking about giving up a ton for years for Anthony Cirelli or Yanni Gourde - why is that more worth it than just drafting that dude?

Krav was unnecessary for a variety of reasons. Dobson .and Wahlstrom were right there and the Rangers weren't SO flush on talent they could torch a pick like that.
