Seems like the Islanders fans I know are obsessed with the Rangers. Like it legit ruins their whole day when the Rangers win. One friend I have who is an Islanders fan even wants them to fire Lambert and hire Gallant because he thinks it would piss Rangers fans off. I told him most Rangers fans would likely laugh if Isles hired Gallant.
Ok that guy drinks lead gas.

A pair of brothers I know, along with myself, are in a fantasy hockey chat. One brother has season tix. His younger bro is more a realist. However, the older one just now, and I quote, goes "The Isles would have at least 17 wins with Trotz. The Isles have their best team on paper in the Lou era. They have led in 19 of 21 games this year." This guy legit high, am I right? 17 wins? LMAO

The Islanders going to 2 conference finals in shortened seasons made them delusional.

so what did he do besides get drunk?
- We know it involved a team employee (via Kaplan)
- We know it was bad enough that his contract got terminated outright, instead of him just getting suspended
- We know it was bad enough that it appears Perry won't be filing a grievance on the termination

There are a few possibilities, pick one you like. Maybe some information surfaces, maybe it doesn't. We still don't know what it was exactly that got Jim Montgomery fired from Dallas. We still don't know exactly what happened with Nichushkin in Seattle.

Perry is 38, I wonder if this will push him to retirement, or would he want to try and make a comeback next year trying to clean his name (provided a team is willing to give him a chance). And what this does to his HHOF aspirations? I think this story is far from over.

I do HR for a living, and to me it sounds like a classic "Got sloshed and said something totally inappropriate to a coworker" or otherwise sexually harassed someone in a non-criminal way. Or did some sort of stupid shit while drunk that wouldn't rise to the level of criminal conduct unless the team wanted to press charges--like we recently had a dude get hammered at an after-work function and come back and piss all over the floor of his office in front of two male coworkers. We could have theoretically taken legal action but that would have been ridiculous. We just fired the dude instead. This seems like one of those types of situations.

Yep. Combined with the fact that CHI is trying to rehab its brand and reputation and recently instilled an absolute, pants on fire, zero tolerance workplace environment policy.

damn, they made him go to an after work function and then fired him for actually having fun? sounds like entrapment.

This probably makes the most sense. Perry got drunk at a Blackhawks event and did something stupid.
Side note: How many Michael Scott on Toby lines did/do you get?

Truth be told my job would be way more satisfying if people treated me like Toby. Instead, people pretend to like and respect me and the department, but I know they all shit talk me as soon as they're out of ear shot.
