I may be in the minority but does anyone else besides me like the new format the NHL implemented for the All-Star game a few years ago?

To me before the change, the all-star game was unwatchable as no one played a lick of defense at all and watching 18-16 scores with players not even caring sucked.

Now tho with the games between the divisions...I believe a million bucks on the line, it seems like the players take it more seriously, defense is actually played at times and with the 3 on 3 format, it's actually a good watch...at least to me it is.

Am I alone in this thought process?

It is better, but it’s still unwatchable IMO

East teams just keep winning. Think we're just about done playoff wise. If Panarin is out for any extended any period we might drop like a rock similar to last season

I stopped watching after I saw it in person when they were in Atlanta.

It was fun in person, but seeing it on TV is just so effing boring.

KHL All Star game is a lot of fun. Sticks set on fire were my favorite thing last year haha. NHL All Star game has gotten better with the 3-on-3 division-based format but I usually watch it the next day on Youtube

Someone posted we're essentially one point better this season than last year, at the same point.

As the schedule evens out, and games played isn't a factor, we could climb pretty easily to 7th (we actually have one less point than Montreal).

Post-Kreider? We might catch a couple of teams not named Detroit, but it's going to be uphill. I think we might more or less be looking at that 6-8 range.

Which is okay, because outside of the top two, I think this year's draft is somewhat similar to last year with the 3-9 slots.

That loss in Columbus was the straw that broke the camel's back. Even with 2 games in hand it's going to be a huge uphill battle now.

It does seem that we're getting closer and closer to playing like a team destined for the playoffs. They need some serious help with taking horrible penalties at all the wrong times and the occasional gaffes that have cost us, but overall they look much more cohesive than earlier in the season.

Yeah this seems like an enormous money grab. "Medical bills." Unless Gritty has Kimbo Slice reincarnate under that costume, a punch to the back isn't going to have medical bills. Maybe a ten dollar copay to get laughed at by a doctor.

The guys playing mascots or dressed up as characters at parks and all that, have incredibly thick skin. Not to say they've never crossed the line, but I seriously doubt that's what happened here.

Yes, my first reaction after a photoshoot where my kid allegedly got hit by the teams mascot is to email them about...the photos being bad...and not telling them about my kid being hit?

Yes...

Chris Chelious interview with the Spittin' Chiclets crew.... He says that one player got so pissed off at Mike Keenan - that Mike Keenan got kicked in the balls by this player, hard......

(Interview cue'd up)

For the record, the All Star game is such a complete waste of time.

Different strokes for different folks. Before they changed the format to the existing 3 on 3 with divisions playing one another, I would have agreed with you.

Now tho, the format has made the game better to watch because the players actually seem to care more, they try harder seeing there is a million bucks on the line as well as the pride of their division being the best and winning.

So there is no question that the NHL did the right thing changing to this format and it's actually, at least for me, a much more enjoyable watch.

I'm late with this question, but why would TOR trade for Georgiev? Or why would we want to? They have no interesting picks for upcoming draft. Kapanen and Nylander are players alright, but way too fluffy for my liking.

Their defense is their main issue. Andersen is and has been absolutely awesome for them, fits their window if they can fix the D, which they won't because they are f***ed against the cap.

Exciting weeks ahead.
