I think most goalies are still a little crazy. They're either "would punch my mother" competitive (Hank) or have absolutely no pulse whatsoever (Igor).

Belfour is a dude who, in a different era, probably would've been a tortured artist doing impressionist pieces and cutting off his ear.

He very much gives off that vibe.

This might me one of the least surprising headlines I've seen in awhile. Not sure your old enough to have seen Belfour play but there were times you'd wonder when watching him if he might not be drunk between the pipes and he'd pitch a shutout somehow....lol.

He was quite the bizarre character but one hell of a good goalie. I've always been fond of Belfour, seeing he was the first goalie I ever drafted when I got recruited to do some bizarre thing called "fantasy hockey" back in 1997!

That said, hopefully Eddie gets some help soon...

I saw him play for Dallas, Leafs and the Hawks. I'm a young 38 years old

Yeah...I was a young 38 once upon a time too....lol

So than you know the deal with Eddie. A very very quirky guy who would go on these insane streaks of brilliance where you’d swear he was never going to give up a goal. He would also on occasion give up the weakest goals you’ve ever seen as well. Overall tho...great HOF goalie.

As I said, have always been a big fan of his and just hope and pray he gets his life in order to where shit like what just happened doesn’t happen again.

As a young goalie watching him there’s no doubt he drank during his playing years. I’d admired him but sometimes he just seemed off. Crazy dude.

Yup that was the word back than that Eddie would have a few belts before games. It was pretty common knowledge that those early to mid 90's Black Hawk teams with guys like Belfour obviously as well as Roenick, Chelios, Larmer...etc could party with the best of them.

Anyways, glad to read someone other than moi recalls that shit about Belfour....:)

Belfour was one of my favorite goalies in the 90s when I started watching hockey. I was glad to see him win a Cup with Dallas in 99 after the Stars spent money wisely by signing Belfour in 97 and Hull in 98.

So the Sabres drafted two potentially franchise elite/Altering players and yet here they are...again

When you cant sign impact free agents you basically have no room for error in terms of draft picks and trades. The ROR trade was bad. It has to be tough in Buffalo. I heard the Pegulas are not good owners.

Buffalo fans were dancing like they won the cup when the Pegulas took over. I remember them thinking that they were going to sign Richards because of it. Obviously things have shaken out as they have.

...why?

A potential franchise winger... A potential 2nd line center and a potential top 10 draft pick for a number 1 center?

That's....expensive... Not even mentioning that the rangers are adding 10m in salary while having about 2m head out...
Yup. If he asks out, the Thornton deal is the model. Maybe with one of the players dropped for a 1st and a prospect.

I'd be willing to offer a good amt for eichel but kakko is a non starter unless it's straight up.

Something like DeAngelo and buch for him would be where I'd be looking at. High scoring rhd and 2nd line winger...seems like a good point to start at. And it's closer on salary when you figure DeAngelo will be at least 3.5m on his next contract and buch is at 3 already.
