Gotta think there's some Babcock-like stuff goin' on there.I am seldom surprised by coaching changes. Gallant getting whacked shocks me.
I did mention that the rope was getting shorter on here a few weeks ago and that we should open the wallets for him when the opportunity arose . Guess it was shorter than I thought .I figured he was golden until the season end .I am seldom surprised by coaching changes. Gallant getting whacked shocks me.
Totally agree. I was at the game with LV at the Garden last month. I was blown away how well coached that team was. They never stopped moving and seemingly they were never out of position as a five-group unit.I am seldom surprised by coaching changes. Gallant getting whacked shocks me.
Hopefully they were not stealing signs BobbopI did mention that the rope was getting shorter on here a few weeks ago and that we should open the wallets for him when the opportunity arose . Guess it was shorter than I thought .I figured he was golden until the season end .
Feels non-hockey-related. Unfortunately.Totally agree. I was at the game with LV at the Garden last month. I was blown away how well coached that team was. They never stopped moving and seemingly they were never out of position as a five-group unit.
I remember thinking that Gallant was more of a scapegoat in Florida.I know Gallant is held in very high regard and considered a really smart coach...but wasn't he considered to be a terrible coach in Florida? Am I mis-remembering that? What changed from Florida to Vegas aside from his team was better?
Unless I'm mistaken:I remember thinking that Gallant was more of a scapegoat in Florida.
So that's aligned with him being a scapegoatUnless I'm mistaken:
1) Gallant had a great year the year before with an analytic FO and a buncha guys having career years with his style which is now widely popular league-wide.
2) Then Dale Tallon appeared, did a buncha meathead ****, they weren't as good, and they canned him because Dale Tallon is a meathead.
They have lost 4 in a row and just fell out of playoff contention. It isn't that shocking IMO.I am seldom surprised by coaching changes. Gallant getting whacked shocks me.
yes, but with bonus Dale Tallon is a meathead action! So that's aligned with him being a scapegoat
That was a nice add.yes, but with bonus Dale Tallon is a meathead action!
The Pacioretty trade, the Stone trade... for a team that is still in its infancy they have mortgaged what little future they had to win now. There are expectations. So that's aligned with him being a scapegoat
The went to the Cup final in year one and made the playoffs last year. I don't see how that doesn't meet expectations. If those trades were a negative, fire the GM.The Pacioretty trade, the Stone trade... for a team that is still in its infancy they have mortgaged what little future they had to win now. Nailed it . I mentioned it last week in a Roster Building thread that he was on a rope and it might be tightening depending on team performance . I figured he would be solid until they lost in the playoffs . However with them trending the other way in the W/L column of late....GM panicked for his own job .I figured Rangers should be ready to wave the money at him when the chance arose . LOL....Hard to fire Quinn though after that Isle thumping . Wings likely a landing spot with him and Yzerman very close . Rangers though can outbid all suitors......one can dream. They were bounced in round 1 last year and are currently on the outside looking in. I don't think the trades were a negative. Both players are roughly at a point per game IIRC.
This is a George McPhee led organization. Short sighted moves from him/his team shouldn't be shocking to anyone.
