My guess is that he gets dealt before he gets UFA status. ROR is damn good, but he and the Avs have a rocky relationship. At some point, that relationship will end, but for now, they have a good player at a reasonable deal.

for all the ROR drama, surprised he only signed for 2 years at a decent cap hit...not sure what Colorado plans on doing with him by only signing him for 2 years

They are signing him for as long as he is willing to stay in Colorado and giving the organization a chance to save face in not losing both Stastny and ROR in the same offseason.

yeah, but by signing him for only 2 years, they lose most of their leverage that they had in any trade...what assets are they going to get for a player not on a long term deal who might not sign with the team he is traded to?

unless they trade him this year, but there goes caring about losing Stastny and ROR in the same year...

Wouldn't he have gotten close to that in arbitration? That's one of the reasons I feel like this new contract is just a countdown until the end of his time in Denver.

Guy has never scored 20 goals , Never reached 50 pts , Is average defensively and is not very good at faceoffs

You don't think it is absurd to see 3rd line C's like Brassard paid 5M or 3rd/4th line C (Depending on how healthy) like Bolland make 5.5M?

If it is what they are being paid these days why would you be surprised? Lament that and stop acting shocked it is happening. Contract inflation is real.

Brassard isn't the NYR's 3c at this point and this contract is buying up 4 of his UFA years. Considering the other contracts being given out his is pretty unobjectionable.

Frolik signed a one-year, $3.3 million contract extension with the Jets.

He's an unrestricted free agent after next season.

Someone wants to test the free agent market in 2015.
