Burns is also somewhat of a rare case in the sense that he hit an entirely new level in his late 20s and early 30s.

Absolutely, but I was looking for a player with some toughness back then and he fit the bill nicely, we were kind of Minnesota East at that time.

Same lineup for the Stars.

Berube is going back to his lines from the first 4 plus games in the Winnipeg series.

Berube moved Schenn to C and Sundqvist to RW. Schwartz on the LW after playing with ROR and Tarasenko.

Perron was moved to the ROR line.

Those changes keyed the comeback in game 5 and the win in game 6.

Schenn prefers playing at center but the coach likes him on LW.

Isles - Canes series reminds me of when the rangers - sens met in the 2nd round. All of the teams in that division/playoff bracket were just so bad, it was like watching a car wreck for days before it actually wrecked.

Canes are missing 5 guys right now? No way they get healthy enough to win anything else beyond this series. Neither of these teams beat Columbus or Boston.

Sharks really miss Pavelski but they are still the better team when looking at lines 1-4 compared to the Avs.

Dallas is the only "good" team left in the playoffs at this point.

I think that Winnipeg pick is going to end up at 19, Sharks will end up beating the Avs, but Canes, Jackets, and Stars all come out with a win

Well, crazy as it is now, before the trade of Burns, Staal hadn't had his injuries and was still a really durable, true shut-down type defender. Burns was developing into a great two-way defenseman capable of 45 points, but I don't think it was so crazy then. They were both first round picks just five or so years into their careers with projection remaining. If they both stayed what they were, I don't think it would have been such an outlandish statement to not want to swap them.

But, Staal of course had the injuries, the game became much faster and dependent on skating and puck moving, and Burns kind of out of nowhere became one of the top offensive defenseman in the game (he had the talent, but guys usually don't develop into superstars at 29). So, again--I don't think it was that crazy of a statement to make at the time. A lot changed right around when Burns was traded.

So Staal was an earlier version of Stepan, except we held on too long.

This is Harbour Dog's best posting performance I've seen since his junior days in the Mid-South Atlantic Pro-Am Hockey Forums posting for the Asheville Steel Icefires message boards. --Pierre McGuire

Annoying or not, I'll be damned if the little bugger doesn't do his homework.

I’m actually annoyed at the cake walk of a playoff run the Isles have been gifted so far. Hopefully Canes can close it out despite the injuries and that will 180 the narrative there.

One time yelling "stars" during the anthem: cute

Two times yelling "stars" during the anthem: annoying
