Trying not to have a client with a new president/CEO drive me bonkers.

Did you hit mute on the phone at any point and scream "OMG I'm not your mommy!" then hit unmute and say "it's a damn shame to hear that..."?

Anyway, a bunch of players got hurt, so Carolina had the guy walking around selling the snow cones play in net, and the ASSlanders still could not buy a goal.

Knock on wood but everything is going pretty great for us right now. Dallas, Colorado and Columbus all stole one on the road. Carolina stole both in Brooklyn. Get closer and closer to that #2, #18, and #28.

I remember the days when people would say "No way would I trade Marc Staal for Brent Burns" before he got traded to the Sharks

Brent Burns had an extremely bizarre career trajectory to say the least. I can only assume all the old toner cartridges floating in the water in San Jose somehow affected his metamorphosis. He actually seems to be happier as he gets crazier, so more power to him.

There is
No guarantee those players make it to Free agents. I’m 50/50 on Panarin. But after hearing Torts rave about the guy I would probably sign him. Messier was 31 when he came to the Rangers.
That was a seasoned, veteran roster with some bona fide stars. This roster is not that.

People said that?!?!
Well, crazy as it is now, before the trade of Burns, Staal hadn't had his injuries and was still a really durable, true shut-down type defender. Burns was developing into a great two-way defenseman capable of 45 points, but I don't think it was so crazy then. They were both first round picks just five or so years into their careers with projection remaining. If they both stayed what they were, I don't think it would have been such an outlandish statement to not want to swap them.

But, Staal of course had the injuries, the game became much faster and dependent on skating and puck moving, and Burns kind of out of nowhere became one of the top offensive defenseman in the game (he had the talent, but guys usually don't develop into superstars at 29). So, again--I don't think it was that crazy of a statement to make at the time. A lot changed right around when Burns was traded.

I was all aboard the Brent Burns train, it made a lot of sense, but Sather didn't have the assets to make a deal like that. That's why its important to stock the prospect pool with as much talent as possible.

I think the equivalent trade for us at the time would have been our 2011 first + Kreider.

Yeah that was the problem, we only had a few young guys that were worth something at that time and they were never going to be on the table, at least not for Burns.

Brent Burns looks like he's cultivated his entire image to Pretty Woman sales associates.

"I TOLD you I was a superstar millionaire athlete and not a raving derelict. You just made a BIG mistake. HUGE."

This was when he went back to Dick's Sporting Goods after getting rejected from buying a windbreaker the first time, right? Because it was raining and the store people thought he was homeless, right?
