The fundamental problem I have with UFA players is that they are "me" guys. If you have a player who has fought and bled with a room full of guys, been through the battles and bonded woth them, why does he turn his back on them for money? None of these guys are struggling. It's not life vs. death. So if his original team wants him to stay, but he says, no, I want to try the market, whay does that tell you about his mindset? If they can't fit the player in with the cap or they're not offering near market, I understand. But all things equal, a guy who walks away on his brothers I find selfish. You can't get too many of those guys in a room together or you wind up with what we had in 2000 until the time Henrik arrived.
This is true. But I'd add that you've got to be realistic about player movement. In a case like Panarin's - if he comes - he's coming knowing there will be some struggles. And ideally he'd be coming at a reasonable rate, too.
That said, after watching those guys win in OT yesterday, my thought was: Wouldn't it be nice if some of those big free agents and rentals re-upped in Columbus. That would be impressive and I think good for the league. (not because it's a small market, but because the team would be getting "rewarded" for going all-in).

If Mrazek doesn’t come back ...

They had a lead when he got hurt...

Canes are going to get must needed rest and will get healthy as the series moves on. As long a they don't completely goof the next 2 games they're going to be just fine.

The key is getting a lead on them. The Isles aren't really a team designed to come from behind.

I’m just saying I don’t trust McBackup for a full series .

Carolina is a great story and they play solid defense but with all their injuries they are weaker than either the Jackets/Bruins. If they are without their starting goalie it's not even close. They need to get some scoring power back up front.

That's why today's win was so big for them. The extra day of rest and them getting back Martinook/Svech will also be huge. Not sure what's going on with Ferland but he would surely help from a size/talent perspective.
