Zucc re-signing in Dallas probably depends on his ask. He’s 31, will be 32, if he’s demanding a max term type deal he likely isn’t gonna get it from any team that’s trying to be a contender. 5 year $6 mill maybe does Dallas do it?

Will be interested to see if Zucc considers slightly less than market if he likes the environment and can have some security.

Another thing to consider is that Texas does not have state income tax. So there is some financial incentive to staying there.

19 to 22 may seem negligible but to trade up those 3 spots probably costs you a 2nd rounder.

Bingo.

And that's when you start getting into the difference between having a pick in the 15 range, compared to a pick still in the 20s.

Might not be a factor, but it does show how things are impacted beyond just the initial standings.

I'm greedy, I want our picks to be as high as possible and as plentiful as can be.

The difference between 19 and 22 could be negligible, as could the difference between 22 and 26.

But the difference between 19 and 26 is probably noticeable. And if we consider the ability to trade down usually resulting in a move of 3-5 slots, max, that's something to consider as well.

In that case, you're talking about the Jets pick and a second being the potential difference between a pick at 14-16, versus 21-23.

So there's definitely a vested interest in the Blues getting back on track and continuing the series trend of the home team being unable to win.

Yeah, definitely. Remember last year, if the Bruins were 3 or 4 slots higher, the Rangers get the guy they want and they get to keep their 2nd.

At some point, not unlike drawing from a checking account, it all adds up.

Obviously I'm not looking to rehash how people watch hockey or how they root for results, but if a second becomes a first, or a first is 3 or 4 slots higher, that does have a cumulative effect on our efforts.

Looking at last year, you don't have to move one of the seconds and maybe you have a guy like Addison in the fold in addition to what we came away with.

But it comes back to that same mindset I had when we were slated to pick in the 6-8 range: the higher we pick, the easier it is to get our guy and get on with our lives. Even if the pick is the same, I'd rather remove as many obstacles as possible.

It's no small difference in my mind between Miller, Lundkvist, Ragnarsson, Keane, and Gross compared to Miller, Lundkvist, Addison, Ragnarsson, Keane, and Gross.

Obviously Addison might not have been the guy we took, but it's a basic point.

Yup..I do recall Smith having that insane playoffs when the 'Yotes went on that run back in 2011 or 2012...I forget.

He's been just as good if not better so far in this series.

He was awesome in that series. He's always been good, he just got on some very bad Coyotes teams

Nill picked up Zuccarello at the airport when he flew from Chicago to Dallas, and said he's previously dealt with the Norwegian winger.

"I've heard about him," Nill said. "He was actually a guy we tried to sign in Detroit coming off the Olympics. I kind of knew him pretty good anyways. As far as off the ice, high-end character. You love his energy. He's kind of a magnet. He's just a hockey player. He loves hockey. He lives and breathes hockey."

Huge swing game tonight. Go Blues!
I don’t think we realize how big this series is for us. We are talking about getting a really good prospect at 19-20 vs more of a long shot good prospect at 28-31. At 19/20/21 there are gonna be some good looking d and wing prospects. Call me crazy but I would rather have the jets pick at 19/20 then two more firsts at 28-31 albeit that couldn’t happen because if the stars and jets made it to next round they would play each other

This has been a weird playoffs with the potential shaping up for a weird Finals with a weird champion.

Top seeds losing games left and right.

Some people have drawn comparisons to 2012 but that was really just LA and New Jersey rolling everyone, and LA became pretty legit.

There's a decent chance we're looking at 5, 6, 7, and 8 advancing in the West.

Zuccarello has six points in six games with the Stars between the regular season and playoffs.
Jim Montgomery thinks there is still more to come.

“I think there’s another level in him,” Montgomery said. “It’s the first time he’s played four games in a row in two months. Let him get in a rhythm, let him get his hockey legs and all of that. We’re talking about a guy that’s done nothing for two months and now he’s already producing like this.”

Dallas is a solid team, if Bishop stays healthy he is a very good goalie, don't see why Zucc would not be enticed to stay. But they need to make a strong run here, imo, to make a stronger case. Think he is hurt from the Rangers trading him and think that bridge has burned to be honest. I am not as much of a Zucc fan as some of you guys, sorry. I did not like how he sulked for the 1st half of the season awaiting a trade to happen. Still plays with a lot of heart but think the ship has sailed for him to return here and think Dallas may be a good place for him to stay.

Man o man Flyers fans are psyched for some AV hockey

It's better than what they've had the last few years.

We complain a lot about AV but it's difficult to deny that he has had a positive effect on Vancouver and our team the first 3 years.

He just has an expiration date, and in both cases he stayed longer than he should have.
