I'm sorry but I can't get over how tiny Gaudreau has been. He's had maybe 2-3 dangerous chances in all 4 games combined. MacKinnon has 2-3 dangerous chances per shift. It's ridiculous how bad the Flames #1 line has been.

I said it just a little while ago but if not for Mike Smith, the Avalanche would be an OT goal tonight away from pulling off the sweep. Flames D has been pathetic. Heck even if they somehow win tonight or by some good fortune, win the series, they are losing to Vegas anyways in possibly a sweep. If Colorado wins, I give them at least a chance to make Vegas sweat a little bit and make it a 6 game series. Flames just don't look like they have what is necessary to win in the playoffs.

CBJ and hopefully the Avs moving on would be awesome. Shut down a lot of that talk of teams not making moves cause they’re not “elite”, they’re just gonna lose first round anyway, etc. The best product is when there are minimal teams that feel they can’t win and actively try not to (tho that may be their best option)

I just dont know if Dallas will re-sign Zucc if the 1st rounder isnt lottery protected. He has played well so they may be inclined to do so.

And if they do, i am not too fond of the Dallas team. Just dont know what team is going to show up. I definitely dont think they will a lottery pick team but i could see them being a bubble team that misses the playoffs. And given Zucc’s age, that would be bad value for them.

Also do we really think Dallas would re-sign Zucc if they make the WCF this year? That would be forfeiting back to back 1st round picks. They could be bad at drafting but that still can set you back, just ask...well...us.

Unless of course they win a cup.
Yeah but the value of a draft pick drops by like 75% when in the hands of the Dallas Stars.

El clasico from two years ago - back later. :)

  • A huge win by Dallas by the way if they figure out their PP they will win this serie for sure - with quicker puck movements on PP, and let the goalie work sideways it open up open net chances.
  • If the 2020 1st is not protected it`s a win win for us Rangers if Dallas sign Mats - if they dont sign he will end up with Flyers or Nucks for a playoffs push. My speculation at the moment.
  • If Nashville win I think Jim Nill should consider a new direction move value players and start the rebuild process based on age reasons.
  • I`m still positive that Dallas win this serie and have them in 7 - I thought Dallas played better in the last two months before playoffs started.

So with Tampa knocked off, if the Stars and Avs win their series, the Jets pick has the potential to be #19 correct? Would those teams have to win the next round too?

Dallas wants to win. Jim Lites went off on Seguin and Benn for a reason 4-5 months ago. Zuccarello has been very good for them. Why wouldn't Nill re-sign Zuccarello? He has liked Zuccarello since 2009-10. The Red Wings wanted to sign the player when Nill was their AGM. The Stars have lacked secondary scoring for years. Hintz is emerging for them as a player. Nill added Zuccarello at the deadline. Zuccarello seems to really like the players on the team. Their fans really like Zuccarello.

The Stars should be up 3-1 in the Nashville series. Rinne stood on his head and Bishop was terrible in game 3.

Rick Carpiniello wrote the Rangers believe there is a good chance Dallas will re-sign Zuccarello.

Even if Dallas doesn't make the WCF, they will still be in the same situation needing secondary scoring. They need another D and that will be their downfall. Bishop needs to stay healthy too.

16-Avs
17-Vegas
18-Dallas
19-Columbus pick belongs to Ottawa
20-Blues pick belongs to Buffalo/STL in the ROR trade/Montour trade. Anaheim gets better pick of STL or SJ
21-Hurricanes
22-Winnipeg

Vegas and Colorado are up 3-1. One of them would advance to the WCF if they both win their 1st round series.

Dallas or STL advancing to the WCF.

Columbus & Carolina in the ECF. Possible. Columbus will play the Boston/Toronto winner. Both teams are taking turns looking like garbage. Carolina/Washington plays the Islanders. That series is 2-1. The Canes lost game 2 in OT.

Final 4 picks. Colorado or Vegas. Dallas or STL. Preferably the Stars. Columbus and Carolina in the WCF. NBC ratings and HRR will tank. All of these smaller American market teams.

Winnipeg pick moves up 4 picks.

If the divisional finals in the west are StL vs Dal and VGK vs Col, the Winnipeg pick is guaranteed to be at worst 20th, though both Central series are really toss ups right now.

Zucc re-signing in Dallas probably depends on his ask. He’s 31, will be 32, if he’s demanding a max term type deal he likely isn’t gonna get it from any team that’s trying to be a contender. 5 year $6 mill maybe does Dallas do it?

Huge swing game tonight. Go Blues!

I'm greedy, I want our picks to be as high as possible and as plentiful as can be.

The difference between 19 and 22 could be negligible, as could the difference between 22 and 26.

But the difference between 19 and 26 is probably noticeable. And if we consider the ability to trade down usually resulting in a move of 3-5 slots, max, that's something to consider as well.

In that case, you're talking about the Jets pick and a second being the potential difference between a pick at 14-16, versus 21-23.

So there's definitely a vested interest in the Blues getting back on track and continuing the series trend of the home team being unable to win.

19 to 22 may seem negligible but to trade up those 3 spots probably costs you a 2nd rounder.
