It's better than what they've had the last few years.

We complain a lot about AV but it's difficult to deny that he has had a positive effect on Vancouver and our team the first 3 years.

He just has an expiration date, and in both cases he stayed longer than he should have.
I would argue that AV’s positive impact ended halfway through 2014-15.

I remember turning on him very quickly.

Meh. I think it started in December 2015. After losing to Tampa due to injuries and some awful performances by Lundqvist is games 2 and 3, the team got off to a great start but you could see the players lost faith

Tony D deserved to make it. Bummer.

He was somewhat banged up to finish the year. It's possible either he or the team decided not to send him.

Players whose contracts are up at the end of the year often decline to go to the World Championship as they don't want to risk an injury. Though it would have been an opportunity for Tony to improve his negotiation position, so maybe Chris just snubbed him. Who really knows?

Worst part of AV's tenure was the team's inability to close out games and series in the PO's. My wife, who doesn't follow sports, always said to let her know when its game 7. It was inevitable, no matter who we played or how much better we were, it ALWAYS went 7 f***in games to give us a heart attack.

Edit: Thinking back, it was the same with Torts as well but that was blamed on the 6 goalie system. Half of the core from those eras are with Tampa who just epically bombed, makes sense.

We beat Pittsburgh in 5
We beat Montreal in 6 twice

Good call, I remember both Montreal series. If Price hadn't gotten injured we definitely would have gone 7 that first time.

The 5 game series against Pitt, I actually don't remember a single game of, weird. I'm probably just mixing all the various times we've played them over the past 10 years into one memory bank.

I remember the Rangers not playing to well in that series and feeling grateful they got it over with in 5 games.

Not gonna ruin ADA's weekend.

Pretty sure every series we won under Torts went 7.

Ottawa and Washington x 2.

Man o man Flyers fans are psyched for some AV hockey
For all of his many, many faults he's the best coach at set plays off faceoffs I ever saw. God knows how many goals the Rangers scored from that, and they all disappeared as soon as he left.

Quinn Hughes will be fun to watch for sure - so looking forward to Worlds in May. And hopefully Brady Skjei can build some confidence going into next 2019-20 season.

So Kreider-Keller to drive up that trade price?
or maybe Kreider-Eichel if Buffalo needs a Skinner replacement. #7 OA would be sweet.
Kreider-Georgiev for #7 OA & a prospect a la Stepan Raanta <> 7 OA & Tony D. (would love to keep Georgiev right now but that mirrors the past trade except Kreider isn't under a long term contract)

John Tortorella after the serie win - CBJ looking really strong going into next round. Besides he got another year coaching for CBJ for sure so he can enjoy it.
