Anyone watching the world championships? US vs Russia 2-2 after 1. Crazy game, wide open, lots of chances. Anisimov had a short handed chance, stickhandling around 3 US players and the goalie Bishop, but Mcbain made the save with a wide open net. Stastny came back down and scored the 2nd of his 2 goals. Kovalchuk tied it with a laser shot a few seconds later.

Imagine if he went to Chicago and replaced that void left by Campbell.

Keith-Seabrook
Letang-Oduya
Hjalmarsson-Leddy

Sexy two-way defense corps right there.

I said this yesterday already, but if Lundqvist was on that team, he would have had 3 rings by now

Staal-Letang
McDonagh-Girardi
DZ/Moore/Stralman.

Pipe dream though. If there's a 2014 Penguin UFA the Rangers should pursuit, it's Malkin.

Buy out Richards, sign Malkin... Ai!!! As much as I hate him because of his antics, I would love to see his skill being shown in the blue.

Letang would fill biggest hole on the roster.

Throw him 7 yrs 49 mil.

Rangers should sign him.

He's a beast.

He sure is and the funny thing is he was drafted 63rd (?) in the same draft(2005) we picked Staal #12.
Yep, hockey drafting is definitely different here too!

No way! We also drafted Lundqvist 205th overall in the same draft that the Islanders took DiPietro #1 overall. Drafting is different here!

And I forgot Staal was a bad pick.

:p:

4 years isn't exactly a bridge contract. He's 26 and in his prime. Currently, he'd probably get at least 6 million on the open market. It's a steal no matter how you slice it.

The definition of a bridge contract is going between ELC and UFA statuses. So yes, it is EXACTLY a bridge contract. You give a guy a raise to a number like $3.5m with the expectation that, by the end of it, he's probably playing on your top pair.

What he would go for on the open market doesn't come into the equation. Guys near the end of their bridge contracts are almost always "steals" by that definition.

He was coming off a 26 point year and he was making peanuts because he was not a highly touted prospect.

The following year he broke out. 3.5 million for a top-4 d-man who is undersized and had scored 26 points is actually a fairly decent contract.
