I was all about it until we lost to the Devils.
I then had to watch the SC Finals with a bunch of heathen Devils fans for Game 5.
its more like this...
sign big free agent, fail to achieve standards, eventually traded while value is low and still receive young NHL players to build around..
McDonagh for Gomez, Brassard and Moore for Gaborik.. the fact the NYR has received 3 NHL players for Gaborik is a great deal. these arent 4th line players... 2ed liner, 3rd liner and a top 4 dman isnt a bad deal...
Brassard is only 26. some players realize their potential later in their career.
How did Gaborik turn out to be a free agent bust here might I ask you?

Gaborik was not a bust. He scored 40 goals twice and was struggling after shoulder surgery this season. I think he has helped us a lot during his tenure. I was sad to see him leave but the return makes up for it.

Bob Richards, I am disappoint.
Exactly my point and even in a horrible 2nd season he was what 2nd on the team in points and goals? He was one of the better free agents we ever signed. My question was directed at the other poster who seems to think Gaborik is in the realm of Holik,Drury,Redden,Gomez etc.
