Imagine being Vinnie Hinostroza here and even attempting to keep up with McDavid in a 1v1 race? Poor bastard.

They need depth and better defense. That top line is only going to carry them so far this season. And as I type this, Lukas Radil (WHO THE ****) just scored his 5th of the season, which would be tied with Calvert for 8th on their team.

And there's Tyson Jost, who I still can't peg how high his scoring ceiling will end up being in the NHL.

At some point you have to say if Mcdavid has a step on you and there’s a chance he can get the puck just trip him.... I’d take an Oilers PP over a Mcdavid breakaway any day

I think the thing I saw is 23rd in ticket revenue (not solely attendance, the Stars actually do decently well in that regard, they just have cheap tickets compared to most markets), but they make some of it back by being top-10 in corporate sponsorship revenue due to DFW having quite a few corporate headquarters.

Small peanuts, because the $$$ is the bottom line, but I’m a Texas hockey fan that gets triggered when Dallas gets lumped into the Arizona, Anaheim, Carolina and Florida group of “Teams with incredibly empty arenas”.
Thank you for the correction. I had no intention of diminishing their attendance. I wanted to frame the revenue issue, but your post paints a much more complete picture.

Since we have your ear, do you think Dallas has the patience to ride out this year where ever it may take them or will they push some chips in to secure a playoff round or 2? They are right in the mix but not a lock at this point.

I'm seriously f***ing salty about Elias Pettersson right now. WHY THE f*** CAN WE NEVER HAVE A PLAYER LIKE THAT? Why does Vancouver get a franchise player literally right when they lose their previous ones? I seriously cannot enjoy all the great young stars around the league that are breaking out because as usual we are one of the few 3 or 4 teams that don't have one.

Kid is fantastic. Hopefully Kravstov comes over and has a similar impact next season.

Vancouver did get boned out of the top 3 picks. Chalk it up to karma. If teams were ever going to make the leaps that philly and NJ did, at least it was that draft.

It really depends on Hanzal and Methot. That’s 10 mil of cap space that is hurt. If they can both go on LTIR (which is feasible - Methot’s knee and Hanzal’s back are both COOKED), then I could see Dallas making a push for a rental forward. If they can’t, then I don’t think we can make a move even if we wanted.

It’s not in Nill’s DNA to make a hasty move, so I don’t think anything crazy will happen, but we’ll have to see where they are come February.

That being said, if the Stars miss the playoffs or go out in 4-5 games, I could easily see Nill losing his job.

I chalk it up to luck. Some franchises are like that.

Kind of like people.

Some people have to scratch and claw for everything and still get the shaft in the end.

Other people just kind of stumble and float through life.

Yup life isn't meant to be fair.

He's been insanely good, but you have to think that 30% shooting percentage is going to come down eventually

But yeah, it's a friggin' bummer that we're one of the only teams right now without a super young dynamic player at the helm

Damn what is going on with the Flyers this year? I thought for sure they would take a step forward this year with a good mix of vet and youth. Tonight losing again against the fraud Canes.

Hahaha, the lone Flyer fan at work came and complained to me today and I just said “Yeah, yeah, yeah buddy! We’re trash too!” He complained about the money they spend on goalies with literally zero return for who the hell knows how long. When was the last time they even had a halfway respectable G which didn’t eventually let them down in the PO’s?! Pre Briere ?!

That was awful. I guess a rookie with no particular track record of dangerous play gets the benefit of the doubt but that was not a good look.

And then, after that the game is unwatchable with wall-to-wall nonsense penalty calls.

This is why I'm pro tank. The Rangers aren't going to luck their way into a talent like this. And I honestly don't care that winning teams can be built in different ways. This is entertainment, and I want to be entertained by elite talent. Watching McDavid play is simply more enjoyable than watching a committee almost win things.

Also, can anyone help me with a forum issue? I somehow sorted (I think by title, so alphabetically?) the threads and all I'm seeing after the stickys are really old threads. Can't find a way to get it back. This is on mobile/Android. Thanks!
