Lou’s driving the tank. That’s the game plan for them

They’ll win Hughes and have him and Barzal terrorize the Rangers for the next decade

Hate the team, but the Pens' Twitter account does come up with some gems from time to time. They've got a master troll working their account.

I go back long enough that I have seen Bobby Orr play. IMO he is the best player ever--better than Gretzky, Lemieux whoever......and he had a profound impact on the game. He revolutionized the sport and he revolutionized the defense position. Keeping in mind his numerous surgeries he was often on one leg but he could pretty much still outskate almost everyone from his era.

Between the age of 19 and 26 he won 16 major awards and the NHL didn't have as many awards then as they do now. 1 Calder--rookie of the year--3 Hart--league MVP--2 Ross--NHL scoring leader (and he's a defenseman and pretty good defensively)--8 straight Norris trophies--best defensemen (he owned it like no other player before or since)--2 Conn Smythe--playoff MVP. The f***ing guy was amazing and he was getting hurt all the time. 6 seasons in a row over 100 points--139 one year--135 in another. No defensemen had ever even approached 100 points before he came along. His numbers for the defense position were Gretzky-esque. He was forced into retirement by injury issues way too early. Played his last game as a 30 year old but 26 was his last full year.

This would not surprise me...

He was great against us in the 2017 playoffs. Last year really fell off a cliff, but who didn't on that Ottawa squad?

I would put in a claim, but I think a team like Buffalo, Arizona, or Vancouver puts in a claim ahead of us.

3 years left @ $3.25m. I wonder if they are having an issue finding someone to take that contract for nothing. In saying that, the Rangers have a few contracts who could go the other way. Perhaps remove a defenseman?

Michael McCarron on waivers today. He's a big body, I wouldn't be surprised to see someone take shot on him

McCarron only has 1st round draft pedigree at this point. Like you said, for this reason would not be surprised to see someone take a shot but he's a total dud.

Smith is a good useful player but committing to him for 3 years might prevent a claim that would have other wise have happened.

McCarron is a classic example of a big guy who dominated smaller kids in his age group and just never got better.

Hudson Fasching is a guy who I thought was going to be a really solid 3rd liner in this league. Seems to be struggling to put it together at this level though.

zach smith as a player is pretty meh but he does have a pretty good lockerroom rep...would be a better veteran leader than mcleod lol

One of the stupidest mascots I have ever seen.
Hahahaha.

Okay, I'll admit it, I LOVE Gritty. He makes me laugh.

If any of you are SciFi/Fantasy fans (or just like hilarious Twitter sh*tposting), check out the thread below from Chuck Wendig's account last night – I laughed out loud multiple times.

Warning: while it's not over the top, the language is mildly NSFW.
