Russia is officially keeping Kaprizov from returning to the US.

Teams drafting Russians who are not already out of the country are in major denial about reality.
I’ve been reading (Russo, I believe) that it’s the US keeping him out due to visa issues, not Russia. Main board says he went through Dubai but couldn’t get a flight to the US, then went another route out of Russia and the same thing happened. If that’s true, then leaving Russia isn’t the issue. Not sure what to believe though. (I have no idea how the visa process works, so maybe it’s possible that Russia is preventing stuff from being processed so that he can’t get to the US, though).

I would rather the Blues reacquire Jake Allen, that is how little I think of Talbot. Just, no
Apparently there is a market for Allen right now. But the indications out of Montreal are that they will not trade him.

I wouldn't expect the Blues to trade for him even if Montreal was willing to, considering he is a UFA after this season anyway. But having him as a backup again wouldn't be the worst option, he's capable of 20-30 games a season, and we won the Cup with him on the bench. I would have felt better with a guy like Allen coming in after the Binnington injury this year, than I did with Husso to be honest, we've seen him steal a series too.

There's going to be a lot of RFAs that don't get qualified and people on HF are going to think their teams need to sign them. In reality, they are mostly just meh or deeply flawed players that were just either high picks or promising at some point in their career.

Most of the time, you are right. But every so often, you can get a great pickup for cheap. Florida snagged Duclair for $1.7M two years ago and he's put up over a 60 point pace since.

Patrick Kane will put in a trade request on Wednesday when the free agency is underway per Chicago radio insider.

His top team was reported to be New York Rangers.

Nichushkin get a 6.125 AAV on a 8 year deal is more than I thought he would get tbh. I know he had a really good year last year but it does seem to be an overpay

Good for Nuke - I think a lot of people wrote him off after this time in Dallas - he's really carved himself out a nice career in Colorado.

His career high before this, real or projected, was 35 points. The only way that contract isn't terrible is if he stays a 55 point player until hes 35. He's decent but I think its more realistic this was a fluke year and hes actually just a 30-35 point player. So yeah as a Blues fan im pretty alright with this.

i really don't understand some of these contracts. 1/3 of teams trying to shed cap and paying teams to take players, 1/3 not spending to cap bc they know they aren't good, and then you have other teams signing guys to contract like nuke that are almost guaranteed to look awful in 2-3 years. honestly really pleased that we have gm who is willing to draw line and lose guys rather than go past a certain amount of stupid.

Technically this was the first deal made by the new GM of the Avs. Though there is no doubt it was already framed up by Sakic and just needed to put pen to paper
