I think the problem with the Devils is they lack good leadership on the ice. Elias and Jagr aren't those type of guys. They just go about their business. On defense, it's Salvadore, but how many teams/times has he had to play that role. Brodeur is likely in his final season unless he miraculously decides he has one more left in him. Henrique and Zajac haven't filled the voids left by prior players over the years. That is why this team shows up some nights and some nights they look miserable. If you surveyed NHL fans who the Devils captain was, they'd have no clue. Assistant captains? They may get lucky by guessing veteran Devils players but it won't be a sure answer.

And obviously the Devils depth just isn't pretty. They need to rebuild.

Why didn't the flames just claim him? Where they at the contract limit? Cap space couldn't possibly have been an issue.

a lot of Flames fans are pissed because of that. im guessing it was a roster issue.. doubt it was a cap issue..

We've only been to overtime once this season as well. Really odd to not have any loser points yet at this point in the season and only getting to extra time once.

That's because this team is good at keeping a lead, and terrible at overcoming a deficit. Perfect formula for little to no overtimes

The Caps have 5 shootout wins in 22 games. 25 points with 7 ROW.

The Rangers have 0 shootout appearances.

You should feel fortunate.

The Devils have had countless shootout appearances.....and have yet to even score a single stinking shootout goal, let alone win. :help:

Which is why it was a thrill watching them somehow get back-to-back wins in OT because all Devils fans knew that if it went to a shootout, it was a guaranteed loss.

Sounds to me that if the kidnapping charge was dropped there's a lot of ******** involved (unless they just didn't have enough evidence). What exactly is "3rd degree assault"?

Of all people, I counted on you to tell us what a 3rd degree assault is ;)

3rd degree assault is the least serious form of assault... in comparison to 1st and 2nd degree assault.
also its a misdemeanor and not a felony, basically all that it means (at least in NY) is that he intended to harm her and he did.

2nd degree is a more serious injury, or the criminal uses a weapon or if it is an officer of the law or peace officer. this is a class D felony

1st degree includes using a weapon, or causing a disfigurement This is a B felony

of course it is much more complicated then I just described but it is a good outline

That would be a win for Lou, who to this day I can never understand what the hell he was thinking when he decided to keep the 29th pick.

But I'm not sure Jagr would fetch a 1st-rounder even if he was playing like he was in his prime.

You can't understand it? I can. He as being arrogant.

IMO, the 29th pick you take today is worth more than the 20th pick you will make in two years. Even in a single year draft, how much difference is the rankings of a guy taken at 20 and 29? So with two years difference...it was probably the right move at the time he did it. If they crap the bed as the season goes on, it looks worse, but again - hindsight is hindsight. Lou has had to deal with a lot of **** in the recent years and the team is still competitive.

That's the very definition of short-sighted management. Sorry, but Lou was a moron for keeping the 29th pick. It was pure arrogance on his part and is an indefensible move.

Oh come on it wasn't the best decision to say the least, but its not like anyone could of saw us losing Parise and Kovalchuk the way we did. If that doesn't happen the situation isn't nearly as bad as it has the potential to be, if worse comes to worse. And if we make the playoffs which we have just as good of chance as doing as you guys this year and we have to forfeit a pick in the 20th range it's not gonna effect us that much long term. Especially considering we are stocked with great young defensman already in the NHL and great defensive prospects in the farm system. We also have solid but not spectacular forwards(besides Boucher who has serious potential) well be fine. And Stefan Matteau has NHL player written all over him even though he'll never be a star in this league. I understand where your coming from but hindsight is always 20/20.

Keeping a 29th overall pick when you have to give up a 1st in the near future is bad management, no matter how you spin it. And if you didn't see Parise leaving, I don't know what to tell you.

Sometimes those contracts expiring just sneak up on GMs.
