Owen Tippett extends with the Flyers for 8 yrs x $6.2 MM AAV. Probably gives us a window into the market for Mittelstadt's next deal. Both late-ish bloomers with similar draft pedigree from the same draft, with Tippett being the better goal-scorer and Casey the better playmaker. I think Mitts would probably be looking for a smidge more ($6.5-ish).
you just sign him to that deal. if necessary its an easy tradeable contract same with Cozens or Thompson once they rebound and the cap goes up

Gallagher gets five games by phone. Should've been more but hey, Wheel of Morality, turn, turn, turn...

That’s such a joke. He should have gotten the Raffi Torres treatment.

This league drives me nuts. They can have relatively black and white rules for safety. Like high sticking is.

They should have similar black and white rule for shots to the head. Players would adapt how they hit to deal with it.

But they don’t care about player safety.

Instead another black and white rule is the puck over the glass. So stupid.

The last one is even more idiotic because it's the exact same thing as icing the puck and should be treated the same (defensive zone face-off, can't change line).

Interesting signing for Colorado. Parise? He's 39. Even the top athletes in their prime need a few weeks of NHL to adjust back to the game, and that's after 3 month. Parise hasn't played in at leas 7 months... AND HE'S 39!!!

Even if he was doing iron man training, will 39 work for him or against him?

If Jiricek has a full falling out with CBus we are in a pretty unique situation. We have a lot of pieces. More than most…but probably not the right ones. If you trade a RHD you probably want a center or D and the top of our pool is a lot of wingers. That said…he’s besties with Kulich and our need is dire. Seems like a guy who needs a strong coach though…and we do not have that.

You do a forward for D prospect swap in a heartbeat. Would we consider Savoie? Could be a good opportunity to get another potential difference maker on the backend

Absolutely would consider Savoie for Jiricek. I'd even add.

BUT

Columbus is kinda sorta another version of us. If they trade Jiricek, they'd have only Mateychuck and Ceulemans as D with any real NHL potential.

And they've got PLENTY of younger forward talent.

A year ago I’d tossed around the idea of Kulich + Savoie.

We can overpay. Go for the Jiricek+Jenner package.

But do we have what CBJ wants......assuming both are on the table? (which I'm guessing they're not actually available).

What does CBJ need? They've got Fantilli and Sillinger as their long-term 1/2 centers. They've got Kent Johnson/Chinakov/Marchenko/Gaudreau/Brindley as long-term scoring line options.

On defense, they've got Werenski and Severson long term. If they trade away Jiricek, I imagine they want to replace him even given that they've got Mateychuk and Ceulemans.

So....what does CBJ need? A long-term answer in net. A long-term solution in the top 4 D. Some long-term bottom 6 options..............................EVERYTHING WE ALSO NEED.

So yes, we can overpay -- but I doubt CBJ is interested in our cadre of high-caliber wings.

It's not a realistic scenario but if we really went bonkers they could flip those assetts for their needs in turn.

I’m not as sold on Sillinger as a top 6 C for a great team. You could dangle Cozens, I think of any player on the team that would be one that CBJ may want.

His complaint is that he isn't getting reps but Columbus has valid concerns that Jiricek needs to work on certain parts of his game, especially in his own zone. He's going to need to be getting reps to work on his game - it's a relationship issue. Maybe with Kulich around, they could make something work but even then, how is their relationship right now with Kulich given how he hasn't gotten much of a look nor performed since returning from the U20's?
