Today in “I can’t believe it wasn’t the Sabres”.

Why can't the Penguins do this shit when they play us? How often have we been the beneficiary of an incredibly stupid play by another team? Feels like it's always going the other way. The Butt Goal is probably the one time I can remember the other team gifting us a stupid goal.

One thing about stupid goals, the puck needs to go toward the net when there are players near it. That's part of the game - a player covering another player can sometimes inadvertently deflect things in. When there is no one near the goal mouth... there isn't any reason to be there to defend air.

Again, watching the Islanders to see what shakes loose there - they had a little blurb from one player talking about how they'd gotten lazy about certain things and "Roy isn't here for that".

Looking at their roster.......jeeeebus, there isn't much there that isn't nailed down with some form of NTC. For clarification: there are very few players worth a damn over there that would be free to be moved.

The only guy with no NTC that I'd be interested in is Cizikas, but there's no way they move him. Roy will likely love him.

Dobson would be nice, but again -- no way he gets moved AND he's about to get PAID.

Looking at guys with modified NTCs? JGP would be a great get for 3rd line center, but no way he waives for us.

And that's a team DESPERATE for some of the prospects we have.........

Seems like they are in a similar situation to the Blues and Flames - most everyone interesting is tied up with some sort of movement clause.

From a Sporting News article about the Globe and Mail paywalled one that came out today:

The Globe and Mail reported on Jan. 24 that five players from the 2018 team have been told to surrender to face charges of sexual assault. The names of the players have not been revealed yet, and they have not been formally charged.

The Globe also reported that the players have been given a set period of time to present themselves at London police headquarters.

I thought he hinted at it being alcohol related?

That was what came out yesterday - he got drunk and made advances on someone who works for NBC. Sounds as though he has sought some professional help - perhaps for sobriety, but that's also what his presser sounded like.

Even though it's been 6 years I really hope that woman gets her justice.
Weird that pretty much every player made it to the NHL.

I barely know the facts but I believe the other three weren’t NHLers or something like that. So I’m sure they are but they aren’t being reported on?

Something like that

That's not correct. Formenton has not played in the NHL for two years since it seems the Sens got wind of his involvement and decided to cut ties - there is a communication that circulated from Melynk's daughters that he would never suit up as a Senator ever again.

Since everyone involved has said they would comply with London police inquiries, it's possible that some people who where there are not being charged. But five are.

No what I’m saying is I recall reading that five of the eight are different. I just googled it and it’s 5 were on the Canadian WJc team and three were not.

So I was saying maybe just those 5 are being reported on, as the are more “interesting”, but perhaps the other three are facing similar charges

There hasn't been any release that additional individuals are facing charges at this point in time. The Globe and Mail article only indicates the five in question, four of who were NHLers and Formenton who had been exiled to Switzerland.

In other news, it's not surprising that the usual league water carriers are all running with the Utah expansion stuff instead of the Hockey Canada stuff. Friedman, Lebrun in particular.
