I do not want the Sabres to trade NHLers for prospects. This team needs to add experience to the roster and not get younger and less experienced, IMO.

It has been for a long time though - the request to burn the year as part of negotiations. There is also the rumbling that the Hayes relationship may have been a negative influence on him as well.

There was all sorts of talk when Briere was hired that he wanted to build out their blueline.

I think that is why Drysdale was a huge part of the package from the Ducks.

Power might have needed to be included from the Sabres as guys like Samuelsson, RyJo, and Jokiharju likely wouldn't have been high end enough for what Briere was looking for.

Still think Power is a tier above Drysdale even without his health issues, but I agree that the other 3 are not enough

the same could be probably said about your argument, its just his second season, he probably should be more sheltered but the whole team plays like crap.
He still has his draft pedigree and a very good rookie season, if there is a few more seasons like this and the whole team plays well than your comment would have more warranty as just letting of some steam.

I like Gauthier a lot. But, using semi-cooked futures for less-cooked futures is still pushing competing down the road. And it leaves the Sabres with less futures to trade for immediate upgrades on the NHL roster.

Haven't we had enough of that?
