Gardiner is out all season with surgery. Gardiner out for season for Hurricanes, will have hip, back surgeries There was talk on the trade boards of Gardiner for Tarasenko, which I was adamantly against. Thank goodness we dodged that bullet.

Good article on Schwartz I randomly found tonight. Losing his father suddenly hit him really hard and you could tell he looked off last season. Was probably my favorite forward for the Blues and hope he has lots of success with Seattle.
Unpacking for Fresh Start
They drafted him. Circle closes.Chara to the Islanders. He's perfect for them. Trotz will love him. That team is looking good!
Ahhh, yes, Comparing a 24 year old (25 when the season starts) who can't crack the NHL who isn't progressing to a 19 year old who is a year since he was drafted who is still progressing finely.Sami Niku on waivers. Army should sign him. Literally shocked Jets willing to release him. Somebody will take him. NHL caliber offensive dmen. Interesting Jets didn't trade him. I guess he didn't hold any value.
you can make the case "he never got a fair chance because of injuries" and that he's a low-risk, medium reward guy to pick up, but i think that's about as rosy as you can paint itSami Niku on waivers. He was rewarded for his hold-out threat and the KHL risk must have been perceived to be real. This contract is akin to the Toronto contracts. Not sure if Minnesota had much alternative, and hopefully (for them) he'll live up to it. He stands to be negotiating an UFA contract with lots of prime years left after this.I have to be honest, I don’t understand that Kaprizov contract at all. That’s massive AAV for a guy with 54 NHL games under his belt. He’s highly talented no doubt, but my god what a risk that is.
Wild were really backed into a corner. They had waited so long for him, built him up so much in eyes of fans, and then he came and had really good year. Can you imagine how it would have gone over if he had left for KHL? Would have been devastating. Even though it seemed highly unlikely to neutral observer, his side let the threat linger to increase their leverage until they got this done.He was rewarded for his hold-out threat and the KHL risk must have been perceived to be real. 3 I think. How many RFA years did Kaprizov have left? 2 or 3?
Yikes OEL and Vancouver. Bill Armstrong looks like a genius getting out of that deal and getting #9OA in the process.
OEL can't keep up anyone in Vancouver's skating drills. What happened yesterday to make you say yikes about OEL?
