Yeah, dude's absolutely unhinged and wholly enveloped in some kinda addiction. Probably being bled dry financially by those closest to him while he's allowed, maybe encouraged, to spiral out of control too.

3rd in finishing last year. 1st this year.

It might regress a little, but this is a fine shooting team.

Yeah, better shot power and placement, on top of the skill.
 
You can definitely see from how Van plays that the Pens miss an element of what Tochett brought, though I certainly don't credit him as the mastermind of the two Cups. JR/Alvin have had a good stretch here after the disastrous first year though, I like almost all their moves the last 6 months, even if most of them boil down to bringing in former Pens.

I find that Tocchet's biggest strength is getting through to guys with either difficult personalities or are struggling mentally. Miller is playing fine 2-way hockey right now.
The Canucks did well to overhaul their blue line. DeSmith as the backup for an injury prone Demko is solid too.
I look at their cap situation for next year, and it's really not that bad. Pettersson gets paid and the OEL buyout penalty gets boosted by 2 mil, but Myers' 6 mil comes off the books. Overall it won't be as good of a situation as this year, but it's not crippling. They could be a playoff team next year if they get the goaltending.
