Leafs let in 7 goals Vs the Wings and hope to a cup contender?

Habs win again ruining their tank job haha

Campbell has tanked since January.

This Wild Flames game is less exciting than I thought it would be.

10-7 final

HF leaves still bitching about tarvares

It was a terrible contract the day it was signed. Most people knew that, but it didn’t stopped pages upon pages of discussion/arguments around here.

When was the last time 17 goals were scored in one game? Holy shit.

The Jets had that game against Philadelphia in 2011 that ended 9-8 in favour of the Jets, unsure if that's the most recent. I think that was the game where Claude Noel said he'd need to hide the knives and rope and burn the tapes because there wasn't any sense to be made from that game.

agreed. Beyak is miles ahead of their pbpbguy.

Sara is miles ahead of whiskey nose Principe too

Beyak has some really annoying habits and some straightforward flaws in his pbp. He's terrible! Until you compare him to most of the rest.

The various SN crews are intolerable, but it is not just them. Beyak compares well to other TSN pbp guys too. When we have an event like Olympic hockey or a World Cup or an IIHF World Championship we get a direct comparison between Beyak and the best of his peers and he always compares well.

So I for one put up with his minor flaws and appreciate Dennis for what he does well. We are lucky to have him.

Hasek calling for the NHL to immediately suspend all Russian player contracts. I know most don't care about geo politics, but we're gonna see a huge ripple effect on Russia's invasion of Ukraine and eventually eastern Europe.

Most of the rest of Eastern Europe are NATO members so probably safe. Moldova and Finland are the exceptions. Finland should be nervous. The central Asian republics formerly part of the USSR are the ones that should really be worried. IMO.

The NHL is not going to take any such action. Imagine suspending Ovechkin. Imagine all of the Russian players taking the NHL to court for breech of contract.

Dennis has flaws but I for one will miss him when he’s gone because I can guarantee the guy who replaces him will be way worse.

The NHL will not do anything, but Bettman does have an out...he can suspend anyone for behavior that is detrimental to the league. It's a pretty wide open statement that could cover anything, but of all the players that have ever been suspended under this umbrella ( and it's not a whole bunch ) IIRC they have never challenged this suspension and won their cases.

The best thing for any Russian player is to just say no comment. If they come out against Putin they put their families back in Russia at risk of reprisals, and if they come out in favor of Putin they will be labeled negatively.

Regardless of which countries are part of NATO, the purpose is to keep Russia in check. Allowing them to invade Ukraine with very little push back beyond sanctions and limited supply of weapons, shows the weakness NATO is in. Especially after years of refusing them entry into the EU and NATO while reasuring them they will be protected from Russian military aggression. China will most likely invade Taiwan now that they see the limited resistance the west puts up.

Oh yeah, for my hockey related angle, no Russian player will speak out against Putin, as that will have severe implications to them and their family living in Russia. Ovechkin is a strong supporter of Putin, so he's best just to keep quiet, and go about scoring goals.

Yes a Russian player could put his foot in it. But there is no possibility of suspending any player for being a Russian. Much as Hasek might like that.
