Jiricek has proven he's slow, makes too many mistakes, and belongs in the Evander Kane Club. If he doesn't turn things around with the Wild, he might be looking at the end of his career.
Pretty low haul for a 6OA 2 years out of the draft who's been great in the AHL. A mid to late 1st and picks years away.
Philly has both Colorado and Edmonton's 1st. Nashville has Vegas's. Now Columbus has Minnesota's. That's 4 contenders in the West who don't have one. Calgary has New Jersey and Florida's 1st, but their own is in Montreal's hands so they might be players. Vegas can always leverage next year's first on a top end player, after they LTIR Stone (see Hertl trade). Dallas, L.A and Vancouver are the only other contenders in the West who have some chips at this year's draft table.Yup. I really don't want to give up our first two years in a row, so this likely helps in that regard. Or it puts us at the top of the list due to having one.
We can trade prospects like Barlow.Philly has both Colorado and Edmonton's 1st. Nashville has Vegas's. Now Columbus has Minnesota's. That's 4 contenders in the West who don't have one. I agree wholeheartedly agree about keeping the 1st. West is wide open but I don't think Chevy can make a rental trade that will guarantee the Jets get out of the 1st round. Jets are already down 2nd and 4th, on account of Toffoli and Miller, and it's hard to significantly improve the team with a 3rd, 5th, 6th and 7th, especially with a lot of work to do in the offseason, contract wise. If it's a term player that's a different story maybe.
Agreed simply an awful trade for CBJ. Not sure what the rush here was, he is under team control. They could simply have waited until another better situation developed with another disgruntled prospect wanting out. There seem to be one of those every 6 months now.
Chevy wil make a Nino type trade again. Rentals are for suckers.Philly has both Colorado and Edmonton's 1st. Nashville has Vegas's. Now Columbus has Minnesota's. I'd be really surprised if the Jets gave up on Barlow in his d+2. Especially after keeping him around late in TC. The organization still seems high on him.We can trade prospects like Barlow.
Really? U mean that’s available. as the most valuable prospects are lambert and salmon.I'd be really surprised if the Jets gave up on Barlow in his d+2. Especially after keeping him around late in TC. The organization still seems high on him.
It's too bad Chaz has no value anymore.
Chibrikov might be the most valuable prospect, as he seems ready to play on a non contending team.
How on earth does Jack Roslovic have 12 goals already this season?
Wonder if Chisholm will be looking at the waiver wire looking for his name, Wild currently carrying 7 D, now 8 maybe they keep all 8 up

You mean a team that wins some games doesn't win every game all the time?Utah HC clown pounding the VGK so far tonight 6-0 half way thru the game

The new Comrie? The kid always ends up in Winnipeg.Solves our D issue - we can pick up chisholm on waivers
Cheveldayoff did Kevin Hayes …. That was bad.Chevy wil make a Nino type trade again. Rentals are for suckers.
Can’t think of any rentals that have paid off in recent years.
I figured their 1st might be used to add some offensive help like Brock Nelson.I think it's easy enough to carry 8 d-men. Spurgeon is 35, Bogosian is 34, can they last a whole season? Jiricek is to the Wild what Salomonsson is for the Jets in terms of depth, but you would certainly believe Jiricek has the potential for more impact. Wild take their 1st off the board early. Still a lot of season and injuries to go.
Wild still have a lot of good prosepcts, they could probably dangle one for him.I figured their 1st might be used to add some offensive help like Brock Nelson.
I think Waddell is cleaning house. Started with Laine. Now it's Jiricek. I was looking at Mateychuk's stats and that kid is tearing up the A this year. Maybe Hunt, who played with him in Moose Jaw, helps him into the NHL this year. Fabbro playing 20 minutes a night is a gift, that afforded a trade for futures.Yeah, it's pretty awful. That first is going to be in the 20's and Hunt is likely a bottom pairing guy at best.
Agreed, but the amount of those prospects available are limited compared to the rentals. The key is being in on and having the winning bid for said prospect.Jiricek deal is interesting. I read the articles from Pronman, then Russo, and Portzline.
Summary:
This wasn’t Waddell’s pick so he was able to see this see without the baggage.
Jackets didn’t see enough improvement in his skating and he wasn’t fitting in their system.
Waddell had been working on this deal for a while and no other GM wanted to do a 1 for 1 for a prospect (that’s a bit of a red flag IMO).
Guerin had been the most aggressive GM on this deal.
Jackets felt the skating hadn’t improved in 2 1/2 years. Waddell said “After a couple of years you have to forget where they were drafted”
Waddell used other GM’s to drive up the price from Hunt, 1st, 2nd and get Guerin to add a 3rd and 4th rounder too.
Multiple coaching staff’s in Columbus didn’t feel Jiricek was ready.
On to Minnesota it sounds like both the pro and amateur departments wanted Jiricek. I think they are looking at him in the context of life after Sprurgeon. Also now they feel they are stocked with young high pedigree talent in Faber, Buium, Jiricek, and goalie Wallstedt.
Time will tell how this all plays out.
My take: I don’t love that there was no org that wanted to go prospect for prospect. I think the Wild have a good enough prospect pool to blow off a draft class. f*** we did that last trade deadline and got zero in return. I would rather take a shot at a high pedigree prospect than add rentals at the deadline but that’s just me.
