Jiricek has proven he's slow, makes too many mistakes, and belongs in the Evander Kane Club. If he doesn't turn things around with the Wild, he might be looking at the end of his career.

Pretty low haul for a 6OA 2 years out of the draft who's been great in the AHL. A mid to late 1st and picks years away.

Agreed simply an awful trade for CBJ. Not sure what the rush here was, he is under team control. They could simply have waited until another better situation developed with another disgruntled prospect wanting out. There seem to be one of those every 6 months now.

Yup. I really don't want to give up our first two years in a row, so this likely helps in that regard. Or it puts us at the top of the list due to having one.
Philly has both Colorado and Edmonton's 1st. Nashville has Vegas's. Now Columbus has Minnesota's. That's 4 contenders in the West who don't have one. Calgary has New Jersey and Florida's 1st, but their own is in Montreal's hands so they might be players. Vegas can always leverage next year's first on a top end player, after they LTIR Stone (see Hertl trade). Dallas, L.A and Vancouver are the only other contenders in the West who have some chips at this year's draft table.

I agree wholeheartedly agree about keeping the 1st. West is wide open but I don't think Chevy can make a rental trade that will guarantee the Jets get out of the 1st round. Jets are already down 2nd and 4th, on account of Toffoli and Miller, and it's hard to significantly improve the team with a 3rd, 5th, 6th and 7th, especially with a lot of work to do in the offseason, contract wise. If it's a term player that's a different story maybe.

We can trade prospects like Barlow.

Makes me happy to have Chevy at the helm, he waits for his price.

Many of these rebuilds fail due to missing on their top 10 picks.

Chevy wil make a Nino type trade again. Rentals are for suckers.

Can’t think of any rentals that have paid off in recent years.

I'd be really surprised if the Jets gave up on Barlow in his d+2. Especially after keeping him around late in TC. The organization still seems high on him.

It's too bad Chaz has no value anymore.

Chibrikov might be the most valuable prospect, as he seems ready to play on a non contending team.

He just traded for Monahan who did nothing more at 5v5 than Names and was exposed for an extreme lack of speed in the playoffs.

Why are we assuming his ass isnt going to "solve" the 2C "problem" for the 4th time now in 7 years?

Can't develop one, trade for it!

He's going to use the 1st for a rental lol.

Evander Kane was really good player in this league for a very long time. I would not take that return as consolation if he turns out to be a player anywhere in the range of Kane.

He's a 20 year old 6th overall pick with full team control for another 7 years and excellent results in the AHL. The Columbus GM should have done what Chevy did and had patience until he got a good prospect back or another prospect demanded their way out in another org.

Columbus had even less pressure than Chevy to make a trade right now, Jets only had Rutger's rights for 2 more years, CBJ owned his rights for 7 more!

Edmonton pumps Colorado tonight 4-1 in a back to back for both teams. Oilers are now in a playoff position after rough start, winning 3 in a row. Colorado loses another key player last night, in Josh Manson, in their loss to Dallas. Traded their backup goalie Annunen for Predators backups goalie, Scott Wedgewood.

Avs are somewhat depleted in draft capital, using their 1st to dump Johansen last year. Depth challenged with injuries. I guess the one to watch there is if they can't get into a playoff position down the stretch does Rantanen become the top player on the trade board?
