Blues’ Brandon Saad unclaimed on waivers, assigned to AHL

Over the past four seasons, Saad has played 274 games for the Blues and is tied for the third-most goals on the team (76).

Blues general manager Doug Armstrong said the team tried to trade Saad before putting him on waivers Tuesday but could not find a suitable deal. He has one more season remaining on the five-year, $22.5 million free-agent contract he signed in 2021.

Utah Hockey Club will not be moving forward with "Yeti" or "Yetis" as its team nickname following rejection by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. The team will hold a new in-arena fan vote to pick a permanent name from three finalists.
