In watching that Jfresh highlight package and seeing that Trouba has only 39 hits in 24 games after 191 in 69 games last season, I suspect a decade of physical hockey has just taken its toll and he's not really looking to mix it up out there every night. Either that or he's checked out on the Rangers.
That sounds like a both thing.

Brooks putting out there that Brady is the Rangers top target at this point.

I don’t see how it’s anything less than Laf++. I still don’t get why the Sens would have any interest in moving him outside of an extreme overpay. He still has 3 years left after this. Try and right the ship to keep him. I guess the only justification would be his NMC kicks in next year and you don’t want to be handcuffed and don’t think you turn the ship around to contend

Yeah, I think there's a big difference in who the Rangers' prime target is vs. who is realistically available. All of the smoke with Ottawa has been they're willing to listen on anyone but Brady. I assume Stutzle is a part of that as well but last I heard, Brady was the only one deemed untouchable.

Brady/Stutzle/Sanderson should all be untouchable. Chabot’s been pretty great this year so while not untouchable I doubt he’s moved. Same for Batherson. Bring me G at the TDL please

Laf Trouba and a 1st for Brady seems reasonable and doesn’t overpower the Rangers too much.

If they somehow pull off Kakko and a prospect for Tkachuk and then Trouba and a 5th to someone like San Jose I’ll be very disappointed

I mean Laf and a 1st is pretty reasonable but Trouba should have negative value. Dreger also said there’s nothing between the Rangers and Sens

Rangers might really show how much leverage teams have over players with limited movement clauses in their contracts. People always say “oh, players/agents will beware of that team in the future” but that’s never really the case. I think Vegas screwed over some players a few years ago and it was like instantly forgotten.

Almost no chance Trouba is going to play in Canada again. For American players I always assume their no-trade clause is the 7 Canadian teams + others.

If he ends up on waivers it’s a possibility but I also imagine no Canadian teams would pick him up because they know he has no interest in going there

Hope the Rangers heavily overpay for Brady

What even would be an overpay? Laf+Cuylle? Laf+Cuylle+?

Brooks peddling a Tkachuk trade to the Rangers. Time is a flat circle.

Laf for Tkachuk feels pretty close in value. Maybe it’s a 2nd that you add. The difference between a 1 and a 2 is another 2 based on pick value so then they’re basically paying a 2 to Ottawa for taking on Trouba which also feels close. Either way if that was the trade - which seems like Ottawa wouldn’t do - I’d still be ok with the impact on the Devils ie Rangers aren’t going to become juggernauts
