I’m glad we didn’t pay that price. No way I would want to give a 1st, 2nd and any prospect for a guy who isn’t on pace with or ahead of his development curve. Seems to be a few question marks as to whether or not he’s going to be a top pairing guy.

Well, thankfully for Minnesota, they already have a top pairing RHD in Faber, so they don't need Jiricek to be him. That being said, I'm not happy that the Wild got another prospect with legit upside even though most CBJ fans are stating that he's a poor skater with questionable decision-making ability. I was interested in getting him for the right price, which I thought would be Bolduc + another lower level prospect. Hopefully myself and the other posters here who insisted it would cost a lot more than Bolduc can eat this humble pie (pumpkin flavored) because the trade reminded us that we're all speculators at the end of the day.

Columbus track record with top picks is terrible.
I hold an impressive amount of contempt for that organization. Having won one playoff series in 24 or so seasons is a massive disappointment. I wish their fans all the best, and I know they recently got a new GM, but would rather see that team in a different city with a different brand all together.

Wow, I wouldn’t have wanted to pay that price for him. Could be wrong and he could thrive in Minny. At least seeing the brothers go at it for a long time could be fun

We already have one questionable Jiricek, we don't need another. Just doesn't seem like a bet we should double down on so I'm glad we weren't involved but I get the appeal with him being a RD with upside. We should definitely pursue that archetype but I like his brother better and we didn't have to invest such a high pick to swing on him and his upside.

Bur I still want to sell Adam.

For those that follow these things, how does Adam’s skating compare to his brothers? Portzline’s article in the Athletic made it seem like this was a major red flag to becoming an impact defenseman and Columbus was dealing him before his value completely tanked.

Based on viewings solely pre=injury, Adam's stride is a bit awkward and doesn't look pretty. I think he can gain more speed and acceleration by cleaning it up. But he moves fairly well. I wouldn't say it is a ++ level skill, maybe somewhere between ok and +. His knee injury could effect that as he already lacked explosiveness.

I don't want to comment on David. I've never watched much of him because he was never a possibility for us. I do remember his skating being praised somewhat as a prospect, so it must be something that hasn't developed as hoped now. From David Jiricek's profile on EP quoting a scouting report "
Skating is the name of the game. He flows a fluid extension into a clean recovery to impart power and precision to his four-way ability —EPRinkside.com 2021"

Seguin is down. He’s been a warrior this season for the Stars. Really impressed with his moxie.

Seguin surprisingly started the season on opening night and has been great, but I saw this coming. He’s playing with too much pain and might need another surgery. God bless him.

Tyler and Jake have been their heroes and now they’re down a leader.

I see the Jiriceck trade similar to the Blues moving on from Runblad and Bokk. Adam’s scouting report says he is an above average skater and is good on his gaps defensively. Kind of the opposite of his brother. Maybe their agent is writing the scouting reports!
