I don't think he meant "protect him from being traded away"?
What does this mean?
If Yzerman gets a half decent offer for Ryan, I sure hope all he's doing is assessing trade value.

Don’t even....Dang, that Martin Necas I'd pretty freaking good.
It's hard to believe Kenny grabbed Rasmussen just a few picks before Necas, Suzuki, and Vilardi...Dang, that Martin Necas I'd pretty freaking good.
I think he finishes w/ ~88O. @724 w/22 more to go this year...assuming .5gpg that's another 11g. He's been on a tear this year (.6 gpg) , especially lately, but he'll cool off, injuries to linemates etc, team cools off, TDL changes competition, roster changes & the final push for playoff points all factor in.
Ovechkin 724, that is the best scoring machine we have seen. He will finish 1st all time.
It will be interesting to follow.I think he finishes w/ ~88O. @724 w/22 more to go this year...assuming .5gpg that's another 11g. So age 36-37 season: starts w/735g imo +40g
37-38: 775 +40g
38-39: 815 +35g <----------this is where the team starts to look old.
39-40: 850 +30g = 880G
I see him returning to play in Russia for 1-2+ seasons, win the KHL Cup
a la Datsyuk & retire.
You think he'll get within 14 of the all-time NHL record, scoring at a 30 goal pace, with the skill/ability to play professional hockey for 2+ more years, and just retire?I think he finishes w/ ~88O. @724 w/22 more to go this year...assuming .5gpg that's another 11g.
